Synopsis

SpongeBob asks Patrick if he wants chocolate milk, to which Patrick says he does. SpongeBob pours two glasses of chocolate milk and gives one to Patrick, then he and Patrick drink theirs together. After they drink it, SpongeBob and Patrick get mustaches made of the chocolate milk. However, being a sponge, SpongeBob absorbs the mustache, making him sad while Patrick laughs. They both drink again; the two both get another mustache, but SpongeBob absorbs his chocolate mustache again. They drink a third time, and SpongeBob gets a chocolate mustache and eyebrows, which both disappear. SpongeBob puts the glass on his head, making Patrick laugh. A card comes in with a narrator reading, "Chocolate Milk, you can absorb it for yourself." In the end, SpongeBob's head absorbs all the chocolate milk, making him frown.

File:SpongeBob SquarePants - Got Milk? Commercial (Original)
A VHS rip of the commercial.
  • This short was made to promote the "You Wish" ("Shanghaied") special on Nickelodeon, as well as the chocolate milk line of Got Milk? beverages.
  • This short premiered on the same day as the season 2 episode segments, "Wormy" and "Patty Hype."
  • For 21 years and 7 months, this animated TV commercial was considered lost media. It was not until October 14, 2022 that a print of the commercial had been discovered online, with a low-quality copy of a camera filming it on a TV. One day later on October 15, 2022,[2] a higher-quality print of the short was uploaded online, being taped straight off of a television in 2001.
    • Before October 14, 2022, the only other pieces of evidence online for this promotion's existence were two versions of the print advertisement from Nickelodeon Magazine and a screenshot of it found by the Nickstory Discord server.
  • On April 4, 2023, this short was recreated in high quality and fully restored by fans in a video uploaded on the dedenneguy YouTube channel.[3]
  • This short was one of the many forms of SpongeBob media that was featured in the rare production art book Behind Closed Doors.
