Synopsis
SpongeBob is reading a comic book while drinking lemonade, when he gets a phone call from a stranger, mistaking him for his friend Willie. SpongeBob says he has the wrong phone number and hangs up, feeling bad for him afterwards.
Then the phone rings again. The same guy asks if he's Willie, and SpongeBob says he still has the wrong number. After hanging up a second time, he calls yet again. SpongeBob asks what number he is dialing, and the guy says SpongeBob's number. He hangs up yet again.
Then, SpongeBob asks himself if he's Willie. Convinced he is, when the phone rings again, he says that he is Willie. However, Patrick is on the line instead. He asks if SpongeBob wants to go to the movies with him, but the latter declines and says his name is Willie, not SpongeBob.
When the stranger calls yet again, SpongeBob again says he is Willie, and the stranger asks if he can help him move. SpongeBob declines and tells him who he really is, and says he's going to the movies.
Trivia
General
- SpongeBob's phone number is said to be 555–9196. This is a fake phone number because it lacks the amount of number digits in an actual phone number. It may have purposely been written like that to prevent people from actually trying to call SpongeBob SquarePants.
Cultural references
- The title is a reference to the Alfred Hitchcock drama film Dial M for Murder.
Errors
- SpongeBob says that he is drinking lemonade in the cup. However, the drink that is in the cup is colored dark green, which would not make it lemonade.
