Dirt Dance

Template:Dance The dirt dance is a dance performed by Template:Data:Links, Template:Data:Links, and the roots in the episode "That Sinking Feeling."

Description

The dance can physically be performed by hopping up and down across the ceiling and floor, as shown by SpongeBob and Patrick. Roots can curl in and roll out to do the dance.

Role in episode

After Squidward begins to go nuts hearing SpongeBob and Patrick's laughing, he begins to hop up and down in frustration on the seafloor, causing the roots under Squidward's house to curl in and ravel out at the beat of his rhythm. SpongeBob notices the roots' moves from underground, and Patrick says that they are dancing. SpongeBob then exclaims to "do like the roots do and do the dirt dance, baby!," and the two bounce across the sublevel. Squidward is shaken aboveground by their actions, and it causes his house to sink.

• SpongeBob and Patrick's rendition of the dance is accompanied by the track "Slide Whistle Stooges."
