He forged SpongeBob's spatula on the mountains long ago, making SpongeBob's spatula very old and ancient.

Role in episode

When SpongeBob breaks his spatula, he goes to the Mystical Misty Mountains to get his spatula reforged by Guru. SpongeBob climbs to the top of the mountain and asks Guru if he can reforge the spatula. He knows why SpongeBob is here, and states that he can show him the tools for the spatula. He goes to grab his tools, but when SpongeBob tries to help Guru grab an anvil, Guru's hands get crushed in the process.

He cannot reforge it due to his hands being broken, and needs to heal up before he can reforge it. Upon realizing this, he decides to teach SpongeBob how to reforge it himself. He teaches SpongeBob how to karate chop, carry wood, and become one with the fire which SpongeBob accidentally sets him on fire with. When Guru believes SpongeBob is finally ready, SpongeBob reforges his spatula with the techniques Guru taught him and heads back to the Krusty Krab. Guru gives him a shortcut to the Krusty Krab by kicking him off the side of the mountain, and starts watching TV.

SpongeBob accidentally breaks his spatula again, and SpongeBob remembers Guru telling him that his true spatula is inside him. SpongeBob begins using his spatula-shaped hands to cook patties. When Guru goes to the Krusty Krab to order one Krabby Patty, he finds SpongeBob's hand being bandaged and asks what happened. SpongeBob tells him that he has found his true spatula, but Guru reminds SpongeBob that he misunderstood his advice, opening up his body to show that the spatula truly is inside him.
