It is a dark green book with a scary face on its cover.
Role in episode
While visiting the bookstore, SpongeBob notifies the clerk that he's there to pick up a cookbook he ordered. However, the clerk accidentally hands him an ancient spell book instead. Then, the witch who was supposed to receive the spell book stops by, but she ends up getting the cookbook instead.
Later, SpongeBob arrives at the Krusty Krab to cook up some new recipes. He eventually finds the cooking section in the spell book, but is shocked by the bizarre ingredients, such as zombie teeth and dragon's breath. He then cooks some pancakes in an iron cauldron, and when Mr. Krabs makes Squidward taste them, he grows an extra eye on his forehead. SpongeBob then serves meals to the remaining customers, causing them to transform into breakfast-themed monsters.
When the witch visits the Krusty Krab to retrieve her spell book, the book suddenly levitates and fuses with the breakfast meals to form a breakfast monster. The witch attempts to fight it, but it sprays syrup at her and begins attacking the other customers. She then transfers her magical powers to SpongeBob, and he uses his powers to serve up a triple-decker Krabby Patty. He flings it into the monster's mouth, killing the monster and restoring the spell book to its original state.

- It is a reference to the Necronomicon, a magical textbook that appears in H. P. Lovecraft's 1924 short story, "The Hound."
