New Quasar is a character who is the reboot version of Captain Doug Quasar. He appears in the episode "Captain Quasar: The Next Iteration."
Description
He is a purple hammerhead shark with sharp teeth and a big chin, who is shown to be a more exaggerated version of the original Captain Quasar. He wears a tight, white full-body spacesuit with light blue sleeves and a green star emblem on the chest. In his true appearance, he has a frail and scrawny physique, although his suit makes him look muscular.
Role in episode
Bubble Bass starts a fan club dedicated to the rebooted Captain Quasar show, which SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidina want to join, believing it's for fans of the original series. Bubble Bass informs them about the new show by playing a scene in which New Quasar fights Chicken Man. Quasar fires two rockets at Chicken Man, but he deflects them and shoots feathers back at him, which Quasar manages to block. He then calls on his sidekick, New Pat-Tron to activate Mecha Pattern Alpha. Getting into the mech, New Quasar fires a laser at Chicken Man, turning him into a roast chicken. After seeing this, SpongeBob and Squidina stick with the old show, but Patrick switches sides and becomes a fan of the new Captain Quasar. At Near Mint Comic Books, New Quasar goes to sign autographs along with New Pat-Tron, although they only agreed because their manager, Eddie, asked them to. SpongeBob and Squidina invite the original protagonists to team up with the new ones to make another new series together, but Bubble Bass rejects the idea and traps all the heroes in a pit to fight each other. At first, New Quasar and New Pat-Tron are frightened by the old ones' attack, but their fear quickly fades when they realize the originals are too old and out of shape to fight. However, the original Quasar and Pat-Tron remember to use their laser to shoot off the newcomers' suits, revealing their true, pathetic forms.
