Nicktoons Battle

"Nicktoons Battle" is a SpongeBob SquarePants Nicktoons short. In this short, the Nicktoons attempt to obtain an orb and become the "Ultimate Toon," fighting against each other in a style akin to Dragon Ball Z.

Synopsis

The short takes place in front of a temple. It starts with Tommy Pickles floating down from the sky. He is holding a glowing orange orb, the "Ball of Toona." He explains that according to legend, whoever catches the ball will be the ultimate Toon. Other Nicktoons characters fight to catch the ball.

Patrick is among the fighters. He eats a Krabby Patty, which gives him the ability to grow very large. He burps and tries to catch the ball, but it rolls away to Dil Pickles, who starts chewing on it. Tommy tells the other Nicktoons that they have learned a valuable lesson: that their quest to be the ultimate Toon is not necessary because they are all Nicktoons, as the short ends.

• This short was aired during commercial breaks on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, making its premiere during the 2002 Kids' Choice Awards.
  • Along with the rest of the ceremony, the interstitial received 5.856 million viewers on its debut, making it the highest-rated SpongeBob-adjacent material to date. However, it would quickly be dethroned by the premiere of "Party Pooper Pants" (6.321) a month later.
• The battle in this short parodies the style seen in the popular Japanese anime, Dragon Ball Z.
