Penny is a penny that appears in the episodes "I Had an Accident" and "Lighthouse Louie."
Description
It is a bronze-brown penny with the image of a fish caricature of Abraham Lincoln on it. SpongeBob says that Penny can sing. Patrick thinks Penny has the most beautiful singing voice.
Role in series
"I Had an Accident"
Penny becomes one of SpongeBob's best indoor friends along with Chip and Used Napkin after the latter decides to stay indoors for the rest of his life.
"Lighthouse Louie"
In Mrs. Puff's lighthouse, Penny is seen alongside Used Napkin and Chip in the large junk pile.
Trivia
- The fish on the coin is supposed to be a caricature of Abraham Lincoln, but unlike the real US penny, he is depicted with a stovepipe hat, which, while Lincoln was famous for wearing, is not seen being worn by his likeness on the penny.
- Due to an error, during a scene in "I Had an Accident" when SpongeBob is holding up Used Napkin, the penny reads 0¢ (0 cents) instead of 1¢ (1 cent).
