SWAT Team
The SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) Team is a police tactical unit in Bikini Bottom that first appears in the episode "The Thing."
Description
The SWAT Team consists of different colored and sized fish, who usually wear blue vests, white helmets with a light blue face guard, light brown pants, and darker brown boots, looking like riot police instead.
In "Upturn Girls," their vests are dark green, and also wear grayish green pants and matching boots.
Role in series
"The Thing"
After Squidward, who is mistaken for an endangered species, attacks Patrick, he calls the Animal Control, prompting the SWAT Team to quickly surround Squidward's house. Although SpongeBob tries to stop them, the SWAT officers capture Squidward and place him in a truck that takes him to the zoo. When SpongeBob and Patrick free Squidward out of his enclosure, a large squad of SWAT officers floods the area. The SWAT team is shaken off after they fail to notice the trio escaping down into the sewer.
"Fungus Among Us"
When Squidward realizes that SpongeBob has been infected with the Ick, he calls the SWAT Team. They arrive by fast-roping down from a helicopter, but upon assessing the severity of the situation, the task is transferred to a hazmat physician.
"Banned in Bikini Bottom"
The SWAT Team quickly storms the Secret Krusty Krab and confiscates all the Krabby Patties after Plankton calls them to report illegal food sales, since the restaurant is banned.
"Slide Whistle Stooges"
After Squidward annoys the entire town with his slide whistle, a police officer calls in the SWAT Team's K-9 Unit for backup. However, the sound of the whistle drives the guard worms crazy, and they end up attacking their own handler.
"Patty Caper"
The SWAT Team arrives at the Krusty Krab to deliver the Krabby Patty secret formula to SpongeBob in a briefcase, though it is missing. They also appear when SpongeBob imagines that either Sandy or Gary stole the secret ingredient. Later, they appear again in Mr. Krabs's version, in which he suspects SpongeBob.
"Upturn Girls"
A large group of SWAT officers surrounds Pearl and Narlene after they repeatedly cause trouble at Upturn's. They escape to the building's rooftop using an elevator, but the SWAT Team follows and corners them. Pearl blows a giant bubble out of chewing gum, lifting them into the air, but the officers grab onto their legs one by one. She drops a credit card, which causes every SWAT officers to jump after it.
Units
Some units are specialized in riot control, and others are in the K-9 Unit and use guard worms. Security units are in charge of delivering top-secret items like the Krabby Patty secret formula in "Patty Caper." In the episode "Banned in Bikini Bottom," a squadron of units are seen clearing out the banned Krabby Patties.
Special units
In the episode "Fungus Among Us," there are special units called hazmat physicians. If a target happens to be in need of quarantine, a hazmat physician assists the SWAT Team in retrieving it.

Trivia
- The SWAT Team's logo features a bald eagle, referencing the Coat of arms of the United States.
- Ironically, bald eagles are land animals, and it is unclear how the logo was designed, considering the lack of chance of encountering one underwater.
