SkyShowtime
SkyShowtime (formerly known as Paramount+ in the Nordics only) is a European streaming service co-owned by Paramount Global and NBCUniversal. It offers original content from Paramount+, Showtime, Sky Studios and Peacock from the Paramount Global and NBCUniversal libraries, as well as inheriting European HBO and HBO Max titles purged by Warner Bros. Discovery in August 2022.
After the announcement of Paramount+ on September 15, 2020, the service was set to launch globally in early 2021[1] with its European release date in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) on March 25, 2021.[2] The service started streaming SpongeBob SquarePants and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years on its launch date.
However, on August 18, 2021, it was announced that it would shut down in 2022 and rebrand as SkyShowtime, a joint venture with NBCUniversal which was planned to launch in more than 20 countries[3]. On September 15, 2022, Paramount+ was replaced with SkyShowtime in Nordic countries, also making the Nordic countries the first countries to receive SkyShowtime. Between October 2022 and February 2023, SkyShowtime would then launch in multiple additional countries throughout across Europe.[4][5][6]
As of early 2025, seasons 6–14 of SpongeBob SquarePants, seasons 1–2 of The Patrick Star Show, and all of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years are available for streaming in regions where SkyShowtime is available. In Nordic countries, seasons 1–5 were made available in their entirety (including "Mid-Life Crustacean," complete with its infamous panty raid scene fully intact) sometime in August 2023, but the first five seasons were suddenly removed without warning sometime in August 2024.
