Sludge[1] is a character who appears in the episode "C.H.U.M.S."
Description
He is a big reddish brown chum creature with two arms and many bubbles across his body. He has a single eye and an empty socket for another, along with a bone and a purple scallop sticking out of his head. He has a staff made of chum as well, with a bone at the bottom and an eyeball on top.
Role in episode
After Plankton falls into the sewer, Sludge and the C.H.U.M. protect him from a sea gator. Sludge explains that they praise him as their master, since he unknowingly creates them whenever he flushes chum into the sewer. While rowing Plankton in a boat to their village to worship him, he says that he recognized him from a sacred scrapbook containing articles about Plankton. When Sludge tells Plankton that the C.H.U.M. will do anything he wishes, Plankton attempts to unsuccessfully train them to seize the Krabby Patty secret formula. After they fail to steal the formula, Sludge tells Plankton that they are better off in the sewer and will check their schedule to see if they will continue worshipping him, then flushes himself down the toilet in the Chum Bucket.
