The Sharks are a gang (or an organization) of sharks who grew up in the streets of Bikini Bottom. The quartet appears in the episodes "Sharks vs. Pods" and "My Father the Boat."
Description
The Sharks are a gang who have a boat with their name on it. There are four current members of the gang, which include Sharkface, the leader of the gang, Lonnie, Ronnie, Donnie, and later SpongeBob. It was revealed that there was a fifth member named Jonnie. SpongeBob later replaces him.
Role in series
"Sharks vs. Pods"
At some point in time, the Sharks and the rivaling gang, the Pods, had a dispute with each other, which carried over to the end of the episode, where it is revealed that the two gangs are dancing troupes, and, to SpongeBob's amazement, are not actually going to have a fight.
It is also hinted that, at another dance-off outside of the episode, the Sharks were either going up against or just witnessing Bikini Bottom's Internal Affairs as they danced. This hint is given when Sharkface admits defeat, saying, "It's over. Nobody beats the Internal Affairs."
"My Father the Boat"
They challenge Pearl and her friends to a race. Mr. Krabs, inside the boat, is determined to win and speeds up the car. The Sharks then launch their teeth at Pearl's tires, but Mr. Krabs quickly replaces the tires with SpongeBob's legs. As they drive up a cliff, Mr. Krabs drops the Sharks' teeth on the road, causing them to spin out and fall of the cliff.
Trivia
- The Sharks are voiced by the original cast of Happy Days (and its spin-off, Laverne & Shirley), which is parodied at the end of "Sharks vs. Pods."
- All of the members except for Sharkface have "-onnie" at the end of their names.
