User:AlternativeHuman93/Worst to Best SpongeBob - Season 1

From SpongeBob Wiki

So, I made a blog post on this episode of Worst to Best originally, and it very quickly became outdated and was unofficial from the beginning. I planned to do the same thing for seasons 2, 3 and 4, but could not find which episode would belong in a certain spot for Season 5. I might have accidentally skipped an episode or something, but I won't risk that happening, so that one has been given up for now. I want to give each episode it's share of spotlight (even if the episode was forgettable) and my opinions will probably become really unique in the later seasons, but I want to dive into Season 1. Seasons 2-4 along with 6 onwards will get these in the future, I might not do Season 5, but I don't want to keep you waiting any longer, so let's go!

#41 and my least favorite episode of Season 1: Nature Pants

This is definitely one of the lowest points in all of pre-movie. The plot itself, is fine. I could like an episode that follows it. But the problem is that the episode is REALLY depressing. This episode's only purpose is to make Patrick sad. It makes the plot seem weak and it feels like one of the writers doesn't know how to do this type of episode. Seriously, because nothing in this season is nearly as bad and the few other pre-movie episodes that truly are as bad as this one are about identical. I actually dislike Evil Patrick because Patrick, again, is out of character (in this case, the scene is frustrating rather than depressing like the rest of the episode). This episode is almost devoid of good qualities, and the good qualities they have are barely worth mentioning. These criticisms may be a bit nitpicky, but the episode overall is just very depressing and bland.

#40: I Was a Teenage Gary

This is an episode with a very weak plot. We don't know if the plot is supposed to be that Squidward neglects Gary while SpongeBob is away or if the plot is about Squidward injecting the plasma to turn SpongeBob into a snail. It may have more redeeming qualities than Nature Pants (including the fact that it isn't depressing), but to me the episode feels a bit off. It's really bland, and makes it seem like the writers didn't care about the quality of the episode. It feels very wierd saying this about more than one pre-movie episode, but it's a fact. There were definitely a few duds in the first three seasons, and as you will learn in one of the next seasons, that "occasional dud" thing will get taken further, putting one of those episodes in my series bottom 10. Now, you might be thinking I lost focus on the topic. No my friends, I was just using extra notes to add more to redeeming the criticism. My biggest criticism was that the ending was really rushed. Nothing happens at the end-nobody goes back to their original form, nothing has happened, and it was really just a lame ending.

#39: MuscleBob BuffPants

This was yet another lame, pointless, and unfortunately unfunny episode. The plot is very weak, nothing enjoyable happens, and it is just a bland episode. That's really all there is to say
