About Me

It is a shame that there aren't AS MANY, not any, but as many, good shows as there use to be. And the only 90's cartoon left is SpongeBob, and that has failed me. Ever since the movie came out, the show has not been as good. Unfortunately, Nick has tarnished every good thing this show has ever done. They completely ruined the animation style, i mean it is just way to colorful. Ruined the voice acting, because Spongebob sounds like freaking Alvin from Alvin and the chipmunks. They also basically changed the whole demographics of the show. Now, instead of it being enjoyable for people of all ages, it can only be enjoyed by toddlers. Since Stephen Hillenberg left, his high standards that came with an episode of Spongebob has died out. And original ideas have died. I wouldn't mind them replying old plots, but they would need to make it funny, which they don't. Another reason I believe this has gone down hill is because of CH Greenblatt leaving the show after 2005. He wrote episodes like band geeks, and went on to create Chowder. The only reason this show is still on is because of the few loyal fans, like me, who watch these new episodes, hoping that it will one day get better. It makes me feel like a Chicago Cubs fan.

THAT IS JUST MY REVIEW, HERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE'S COMMENTS FROM AROUND THE WEB THAT FEEL THE SAME. (AGAIN NOT MY REVIEWS BELOW THIS STATEMENT) enjoy.

Anybody who's seen both the old Spongebob episodes and the newer Spongebob episodes knows what I'm talking about. First, I'll talk about the older episodes. Spongebob was one of the best, if not the best, shows on Nickelodeon. The characters were completely original, the humor was great, and it became an instant classic. Just about everybody who's seen just a few episodes can memorize the whole Bikini Bottom layout (Spongebob's, Patrick's and Squidward's houses, the Krusty Krab, the Chum Bucket, ect.) As I sais before, it was a great show.

Now lets talk about Spongebob now. The humor has become stale, the plots are predictable and often unnecessary, and overall, the show itself has declined in every way. Every other episode will involve somebody getting their skin ripped off (not to say this never happened in the older episodes, but never this much). But the most gruesome episodes are the entire season 6. Its just disgusting. First there's the gross splinter episode, then you see more disassembling of body parts and showings of organs than probably all the other seasons combined. And I'm sure a lot of you will remember a certain scene involving a couch. I'm literally shuddering right now, just thinking of the godawful scene. I admit I do watch way more gorey things than I'm supposed to, but I can't even watch this scene without looking away or tucking in my toes. ugh. In conclusion, Spongebob is way past it's time for cancellation. It had a good run up to, I'd say late 2009, but its really just time to stop. But there's a problem.

Nickelodeon is stuck in a position where If it does cancel Spongebob, Its practically nothing. It has no other shows to fall back on, and will just die. And if it doesn't cancel Spongebob, It will just just run it's way straight to the ground. The only way I could see it working is if Nickelodeon makes another show as good as Spongebob. But we all know thats never going to happen. I'm not saying the new episodes are bad. They're actually pretty good compared to the other shows ( So many unneeded CGI shows ). Its just time to pull the plug.

Ever since the Spongebob Movie, nickelodeon wanted to change Spongebob's target audience to PURELY KIDS. Before, the creator admitted that Spongebob was for all ages with its incredibly clever storylines and exceptionally dynamic/deep jokes. Now, nickelodean demanded that the jokes be reduced to simple toilet humor and the stories be reduced to easy-to-follow dumb adventures. Patrick now is just plain ***ed, SpongeBob has the mentality of a 4 year old, and squidward is just annoying and grumpy. I can watch the old episodes all day and it will never get old. The new ones are just pathetic tries to be as funny as before. For example, people loved the faces that the characters made once in a while. Nickelodeon knew that, so now they make them make a ***ed unfunny face every two seconds of the show. It's so sad to see something so funny just die out. Just stop the show or go back to the old humor.

SpongeBob SquarePants is considered one of the greatest cartoons ever made. I certainly never missed a chance to see it when I was a kid. It was one of the best cartoons I'd ever seen. It had the funniest characters, an original plot, and they always went on crazy, funny adventures. Unfortunately, the show is far past it's prime. If I were to rate the first three seasons of SpongeBob than it would have a perfect 10. But the show has just fallen from grace since being revived. It's not bad, its just pretty obvious that the writers are running out of good ideas. Just like Fairly Odd Parents, SpongeBob was cancelled, then it was brought back for more seasons. When that happened, the show started to go a little south. Again, not to the point where it's bad, it's just not as good as it was. The characters haven't changed, but the animation is completely different than what it was. It just doesn't look good. Apart from those, there isn't really much more to say. SpongeBob SquarePants is a legendary cartoon, that unfortunately went a little downhill since getting a new team of writers and different animation. But it's still a great show for kids, and the best show on Nickelodeon right now.

As a child, Spongebob was my very favorite show. Even in my early teenage years, spongebob was still a favorite of mine, despite how gradually bad it was becoming with every episode. Now, all I can say is that this show basically has gone down to crap. In the beginning, the show was actually FUNNY and the characters weren't as stupid and braindead as they are now. Spongebob was a funny, happy-go-lucky character. Patrick was a bit dumb, but also a bit smart as well. Squidward was grumpy and snotty with his clever humor, just the way we liked him. Sure, the show was a bit dumb, but nothing compared to what it has become now. Now, it's pure and absolute bullshit. Spongebob acts like a whiny little brat and he has become so irritating and annoying to the point where I want to reach into the TV and punch him. He's such a pain in the butt now. He acts like a little girl. Patrick, on the other hand, has become even more idiotic and disgusting than he was in seasons 1-3 but he's more tolerable than Spongebob. Squidward has gone insane. He's become less humorous and more desperate and miserable. He goes crazy every time Patrick and Spongebob do the slightest thing. He never minds his own darn business, either. If he spent less time paying attention to Patrick and SB, he would have a less miserable life. If he hates Spongebob and Patrick so much, he should mind his business, MOVE TO A DIFFERENT DARN TOWN ALREADY, or just plain ignore them. So freaking simple. But I do have to say that Patrick and SB do sometimes do stupid crap to make him miserable. That I will admit. Anyway, to sum the rest of the characters up: Mr. Krabs has become a cheap bastard. Sure, he was always cheap, but he has never gone above and beyond, doing every idiotic, inhumane, and illogical thing known to man to save a penny, like he does now. In the beginning, his cheapness was expressed in a humorous way. Now, it's just plain wrong. Sandy- At first, she was smart and impressive. Now, it seems as if she has become just as dumb as the rest of the characters. She couldn't beat them, so she joined them, I suppose... Pearl- Meh. Same as always. Still spoiled and bratty and still acts like a 5 year old Rest of the characters? Snotty. Unlikeable. Clueless. As for the whole "Plankton getting the formula" fiasco, it's really starting to get old. I'm tired of seeing the once clever and devious Plankton repeatedly attempting to steal Mr. Krabs's formula, and in some way or another failing. Just give him the darn formula already, everyone's sick of seeing this plot in every other episode. It seems as if now Plankton has joined in on the stupidity. I hate how the writers purposely make Plankton do something to jeopardize him getting the formula. For example, one time, he had the formula RIGHT IN HIS HAND, Mr Krabs NOT even present, he could have quietly made a run for it. NO, instead he has to announce to the entire world: :THE FORMULA IS MINEEE!!" and once again get the formula snatched away from him. This alone shows that the writers are not even trying and that they should just do an episode where Plankton gets the formula. Overall, Spongebob just isn't the same. I miss when the episodes didn't rely on making Squidward miserable and giving him a run for his money. I also hate the fact that the newer episodes have grotesque and disgusting humor, for example Patrick having a giant bubble gum pile and Spongebob going insane and eating worms out of the ground. Eww...this is something the older ones thankfully did not include. I miss when they didn't go overboard with Mr. Krabs's cheapness, and when everyone had their own sense of clever humor. Now, it seems as if everything has gone wrong. The show STILL has its good moments here an there, but not like the classic spongebob did. It's sad that the newer generation kids are exposed to these newer episodes and actually think they are funny. It's because they didn't know what Spongebob was like back in the day. It's also pretty sad that a show that was once so good...is slowly becoming worse.

Seasons 1-3 = amazing beyond belief Season 4 = ok...some good, some bad Everything else = CRAP, with the rare half-decent episode here and there Oh and the movie was pretty good.

Spongebob Squarepants is one of those shows everyone will remember. No matter how old you are, everyone has heard of it, watched it, and laughed. Unfortunately, it seems that over the years, the show has gone from being a great show, to very mediocre and boring and here's why. The first seasons' 1 through 3, were well crafted and had plenty of great ideas in it. There was humor that not only kids could laugh at, but adults as well. I also liked the variety the seasons had and had original plots and stories, but like all good shows, it eventually starts to go rock bottom (no not the episode, but it was great). After the success of The Spongebob Squarepants Movie, it was only logical that another season be put on the air and I was ready to watch it, only to find some changes I did not like. The artwork is way too colorful now, Spongebob has a new voice that is very annoying, and it has lost some of it's variety and humor. It wasn't until season 6 when things went way down hill for Spongebob. The episodes now focus on the Krusty Krab too much, the variety is now next to non-existent, the stories are a case of been there, done that, and the humor is nowhere near as charming and funny like before. Most of the characters are not as interesting and nowhere near as great as before. Spongebob is now too annoying and stupid and not goofy and funny like in the early seasons. Patrick is now way too stupid and not funny. Sandy is pretty much not in this show anymore, she is just a background character now. Squidward is still tolerable but he is always getting tortured. Give him a break, he has been through enough and deserves some love and things he works for. Plankton is used WAY too many times, I guarantee you that in every new episode of Spongebob, you will see him trying to steal the formula. Come up with new ideas! Mr. Krabs is now too focused on money. I know he is cheap but in recent episodes, he cares for nothing but money, and fells nothing for anything else. Spongebob Squarepants was a great show when it began and seasons 1-3 are still great, but these new seasons are just not as great as the original. Perhaps it's for the best that this show either get a new creative team and bring back the magic, or cancel it and let a new show take its place. What was once a great show for everyone of all ages, has now gone downhill and has lost its charm. Sorry all you fans, I still like Spongebob a lot, but we need stuff like the old seasons back, not this drek. Stick with the old episodes instead of this junk.n

Who lives in a Pineapple under the sea? Spongebob Squarepants! Who hasn't been great since 2003? Spongebob Squarepants! 5.0 By Drips, Aug 07, 2012 Spongebob Squarepants. Its popularity makes Nickelodeon alive today. However, have any of you considered that Spongebob Squarepants may be the reason that Nickelodeon doesn't make animated series today? Nickelodeon's entire purpose back in the 90s was to keep producing animated series so it could remain as a channel, when Spongebob came along, Nickelodeon made so much money off it that they don't even CARE about making series anymore (Besides that teen crap) and that they basically have it made. The plan? Make horrible Spongebob episodes that have no plot and arent funny at all. Genius! Oh wait, NO IT'S NOT. Anyway, Spongebob Squarepants was HILARIOUS in its first three seasons up until the movie. In fact, it was probably the greatest animated comedy back then. I mean, have you seen Chocolate with Nuts? That was Laugh Out Loud funny, maybe even "Pee-Your-Pants" funny. Stephen Hillenburg actually planned the series to end after the movie, but no, Nickelodeon wanted more...So what did they do? THEY GOT A NEW WRITING TEAM! Why in the world would you get rid of the geniusus that wrote the early Spongebob? You couldn't have just convinced Hillenburg and his team to keep up the pace for a few more seasons? Nope, you needed money. All I can say is GG Nickelodeon, GG. Right when the new Spongebob began, it got...well...horrible. I have never seen such a great demise in a cartoon series. It got weird, it wasn't funny, it was so unoriginal it was hard to watch. However, because viewers stook to the new style of "Spongeboob Squirepants" (Guess what? That was in an origanal episode!) Nickelodeon kept continueing it, and continueing it, and continueing it. In my opinion, the network just didn't care anymore. They changed their channel style completely. (They got rid of the splat...just...wow.) And along with the ruined SPongebob Squarepants and Fairly Oddparents they got these teen like shows. Why am I explaining Nickelodeon's downfall on a Spongebob review? Well, I just think Spongebob's money-making popularity just got Nickelodeon employees to not put heart into the channel anymore. Even Stephen Hillenburg left his own show, Lol! Spongebob's said to keep airing until maybe 2014, but it's just a guess. Just end it. Please, none of us like this new SPongebob who thinks of Patrick more than a friend, (You know what I mean.) and has misadventures revolving around the most STUPIDEST things imaginable. No Plot. No Humor. No SPongebob Squarepants Feel.

Let me make this easy for you: Season 1: Very good first run, lots of original episode plots with simple ideas (such as the one called 'Reef Blower'). Season 2: Again, very witty and family friendly plot lines which caught the attention of older viewers as well. Season 3: Even more funnier and original episodes with the inclusion of slightly more 'adulty' jokes which made it funnier for older viewers. SB Movie: It was good, many fans liked it, some didn't. But it still possessed that 'pizzazz' from the Seasons 1-3. The jokes were somewhat immature but still maintained to make most people laugh. Season 4: An okay season with more kiddy and childish episodes (such as the one with Gummy or the 'Krusty Towers'). Some of the older viewers left SB at this point since it had lost it's wittiness from the older seasons. Season 5: THIS was when many of the long time viewers were disappointed. The episodes were getting more and more boring/unoriginal, and the characters were getting a lot more annoying; (Spongebob's higher pitched voice, Squidward's tendency to shout at nearly everything, Mr. Krab's infinite cheapness and Patrick's increased dumbness). Also another thing to note down about this season is that everyone received these little cheeks which changed the overall look of characters. Season 6: The art changed dramatically, going from the traditional hand painted backgrounds to computer generated ones with very high contrast and brightness. The animation became smoother, thus taking away that 'classic cartoon' aura it once had. Season 7: It sucked the most. I hated it. Season 8: Yeah, this was when it became absolutely horrible. Just to be clear, this is my take on it, with also things I've observed over the years. I personally started to hate everything after the Spongebob movie.

I used to enjoy Spongebob. It was hilarious. Everything about it was great. Until the movie came out. The movie was not even good. Then Spongebob went downhill. The episodes are pointless, no humor whatsoever, irritating to even watch. Spongebob is more annoying and clueless as ever. He's oblivious to everything. His voice is unbearable. Patrick is terrible to Spongebob. He used to be so nice to him, now he is just plain rude. And he is dumber. Squidward is even more rude than ever also. Yelling all the time, irritating to listen to. I feel bad for him sometimes though. Plankton is so annoying to. Stop stealing the formula already! You'll never get it and it's pointless and a waste of 11 minutes to watch an episode about that. Sandy is very boring and she's not even in that many episodes anymore. When she is, they're terrible. Pearl is a stuck up teenager, and she cries in so many episodes. She is such a baby and complains when she doesn't get her way. Larry doesn't even know who Spongebob and Patrick are anymore. And Mrs. Puff. She is pathetic. How much hatred can she have for a student? It's just stupid to watch. She wastes all of her time trying to hurt Spongebob, and always complains about him. Blah, blah, blah, grow up already. Act your age for crying out loud. Plus Mr. Krabs is just to greedy. I can't stand it, all he cares about is money. Like the episode where Spongebob has a penny and Mr. Krabs spends all of his time just trying to get it. That was a pointless episode. This show is just plain irritating now. I can't stand it. I do love the show, just not the newer episodes. I love the old ones. I don't watch Nickelodeon anymore because they keep playing the new ones, so I just watch the old ones on DVD.
