Alfred Charles Chomp (born 31 October 1905) is an American supercentenarian and the only surviving uncle of the late Donald Chomp. Born in 1905, he is the only surviving son of Robert and Carole Chomp. His parents divorced in 1911 and he lived with his grandfather John. Chomp dropped out of school in June 1919, to care for his sick grandfather, who died on December 30 that same year at age 80. During the 1920s, Chomp worked at Hollywood, but didn't get paid much. By 1930, Chomp lost all of his money due to the Great Depression. He made his first film in 1932, entitled "My Life", based off his father's book from 1886. That same year, Chomp's grandfather Hitohito died. In 1936, he was missing and he was found by 1937 in Germany by Adolf Hitler. In 1938, Chomp was forced to go back to America since he only went to Germany for vacation. In 1941, Chomp joined World War II due to Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. He joined in 1942. He retired from the war in 1944, as an actor in 1948 and as a director in 1950. On November 3, 1962, Chomp made some food for his father. The two went to sleep. The following morning, Chomp woke up. He checked on his father, who couldn't move. Chomp thought that his father might have died overnight while he was sleeping. Chomp didn't want to break the news telling his nieces and nephews that their grandfather had died. So he told the people from the NY Times on November 5, that his father died on Saturday night from natural causes. The memorial service was held on the 6th. Chomp's nephew, Donald said that Robert was everything to him. In 2005, loads of people decided to celebrate his 100th birthday, including most of the surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood. In 2015, he celebrated his 110th birthday. His nephew Leland said that his longevity is having fresh carrot juice once a while. Chomp also said that sleep is another thing that makes him lives so long.
