Spongebob Squarepants is my second favorite show. Why? Well I am going to tell you that. I enjoy shows that focus on both good plots and humor. Spongebob Squarepants obviously has lots of humor within it, as well as great plots (more often than not). Another element that I like in TV shows is characters with complicated yet simple and deep personalities. For example, spongebob is enthusiastic, juvenile, kind hearted, caring, and fun. His best friend Patrick is dumb, stupid, lazy, juvenile, messy, unobservant, and clumsy. Spongebob's neighbor Squidward is grumpy, grouchy, inpatient, unkind, easily annoyed, unappreciative, mean, and just plain unable to understand other people. They all have distinct and distinguishable personalities. Another element that I think makes a good TV show is interesting... Things... In the show itself. For example the main character is a SPONGE who lives in a PINEAPPLE under the OCEAN. Sponge, pineapple, and ocean don't seem to really go together. Also Spongebob's best friend is a STARFISH who lives under a ROCK. They may go together, but the oddness of it all just adds to the show. Another element that to me makes a show great is recurring background characters or objects. Spongebob Squarepants has a whole list of named fish who reappear multiple times throughout the show. You can be like "Hey is that the same guy that was in that other episode?" Weather the character be a major part or just be a person in a crowd, they recur.
