User:Lumoshi/H&H Draft Tournament
Inspired by the National Basketball Association, users will formulate their own teams of episodes that will compete in a rigorous tournament process. The goal is to choose the best team of episodes via a selection process known as the draft, and then after users have episode teams of a certain amount, users' teams will be pitted against each other in a series of Hurt and Heals designed to mimic the NBA season.

I will start the game if we can reach 16 participants, although if we can't hit that many, 12 should be okay.
Draft
The draft will work as follows. Users will take turns choosing episodes; the goal is to choose the best episodes (or at least the most popular ones you like), as other people will be voting in the H&Hs based on how much they like your episodes. So if a commonly hated episode is one of your favorites, I'd suggest not drafting that one. Remember that you cannot select an episode that has already been selected, so with your early picks, try to snatch up the very popular episodes.
The selection order will be randomized, and each user will get to choose a team of 8 episodes. So if there are 15 users participating, there will be 120 total draft selections. The draft process might take a while in that case unless I think of a way to make it go faster.
Here's an example, let's say I got the first selection in the draft through the RNG.
- 1st pick: Lumoshi will select... The Camping Episode out of season 3.
- I'm selecting The Camping Episode due to it being my favorite episode and a very well-liked one. Consider how much the ESB community likes the episode when you make your selection.
After all users select once, they will go through the process again for eight rounds. So if there are 15 users, they would get every 15th pick. Ex: if I had the 1st pick, I would get to select 16th, 31st, 46th, etc. I'm aware this format will give users with earlier picks an advantage, and I haven't yet thought of a workaround, but we'll see.
Season
After forming teams, I will formulate a schedule where users will play against each other with their teams, 1v1 (ex: User A's team vs User B's team). I will determine how points are accumulated across the tournament, but a user can receive more points by winning the game against their opponent with more episodes remaining. For example, if User A has only 1 of their episodes left after all of the opponent's episodes are eliminated, they would receive less points than if they had 4 of their episodes left.
If we have a lot of people, the tournament is sure to get stale very quickly since there will be a lot of games, so I will reduce the number of games accordingly if a lot of people sign up.
After the season concludes, we will go into a bracketed playoff round where things will shake up, instead being 1v1v1 (ex: User A's team vs User B's team vs User C's team). The winner of the bracketed round will win the tournament.
Trades
If another user has an episode you want, you can offer to trade them one of your episodes, but you both have to agree to the deal. You can trade any time outside of the playoffs.
Future seasons
As with the NBA, this is designed to be repeated many times. In the event that users enjoy this and want to do it again, there will be slight changes. The draft will be the reverse of the final standings, so the user in last place will get the first pick in the draft.
