About Me
This is the article, "Changes in More Recent Episodes."
Ever since the original Spongebob episode writer resigned, the episodes have been much more different. Here is a list below showing the most noticable changes:
== Episodes ==
The episodes starting in Season 4 have lost quality and have had lazy or cheesy endings, as seen in the episodes "Dear Vikings" and "Accidents Will Happen." Most episodes take place at the Krusty Krab more often. There are occasionally new episodes that the fans enjoy, and the original episodes are aired often, so the recent SpongeBob series is not always lacking in quality.
The old episodes had an ongoing Hawaiian theme, (ukulele music, flowers, and tikis) but it was removed for unknown reasons starting in season 4.
Most new episodes have a large number of errors which are never corrected in future airings.
== Characters ==
SpongeBob: SpongeBob has grown more naive and impared, as seen in several episodes such as "A Pal For Gary", "Accidents Will Happen", and "Boating Buddies". He seems to treat Squidward like family, oblivious to the fact that he hates him. He also acts more cheerful instead of calm. It should be noted that his scream is lowered in pitch, starting in Season 4. He is very immature and strange in the latest episodes. In Penny Foolish, he finds a "penny" and starts dancing around it, as a fish couple stares akwardly.
SpongeBob's appearance was also changed. His eyes become much bigger, his cheeks are differently shaped, and he's always making akward, repulsive faces.
SpongeBob's sleeping attire is also heavily edited during some new episodes. When he's alone, he wears underwear when he sleeps. When he has a visitor, he wears green-striped pajamas. In the early episodes, he never wore such a thing. In The Two Faces of Squidward, Squidward rushes to SpongeBob's house to tell him to change his face back. SpongeBob is surprised because Squidward had burst in while he was in his underwear, cutting his toenails. Squidward begs and grabs SpongeBob, but strangely, he has his uniform back on. This shows that the storyboard artists are willing to make an episode goof/error just to make the episode more appropriate.
== Mr. Krabs ==
Mr. Krabs is much more cheap and penny-pinching, as seen in "Accidents Will Happen", where he is shown crying for mercy for having to pay one dollar for Squidward's "injury".
== Gary ==
Gary seems not to like SpongeBob almost at all, as seen in "A Pal For Gary" and "Gary in Love". He almost seems to shun SpongeBob, most likely because SpongeBob has grown more naive.
Sandy
Although Sandy did not change, she has been absent in many recent episodes, unlike the rest of the characters.
Patrick
Patrick is now has a stereotypical personality: confused and dimwitted. There is a running gag in a few episodes like, "Truth or Square" and "Squidtastic Voyage", in which Patrick thinks Sandy is trapped in a box; the box is clearly a speakerbox. He and SpongeBob annoy Squidward all the time.
He also seems very negative, as he shuns SpongeBob for ridiculous reasons in episodes such as "SpongeHenge."
Patrick has a repulsive buck tooth, starting in season 4.
Patrick is also reffered to as a "genius" in episodes like "Stanley S. SquarePants," and "Frozen Face Off," even though he is not a "genius."
Squidward
Squidward also has a very stereotypical personality: bored. He constantly saying "whatever," at the worst times. In Single Cell Anniversary, a flashback is shown with Karen buying a Krabby Patty. Squidward gives her the order and remarks his new sterotypical catchphrase, instead or reacting that one of his enemies is attempting to steal the formula for her husband. In The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Squidward heads to the Chum Bucket to see what Plankton is up to. This shows that he is willing to fight. In later episodes, such as Komputer Overload, Plankton attacks the Krusty Krab, but Squidward does not fight; he walks out and says,"later." This shows that the new episodes grew less dramatic and heroic.
Plankton
Plankton is always trying to get the formula by ridiculous plans. In early episodes, like Plankton!," Plankton seems more sinister. He creates a brain control device to make SpongeBob snatch a patty for him. This scene is dramatic, as SpongeBob says he won't give up and starts crying. In Komputer Overload, SpongeBob is not willing to fight. He feels like giving up more often, as he repeatedly yells "We're all doomed," like a lunatic. This shows that the writers are trying to make the episodes more comedic, and less action, another thing that gave the episodes negative views.
Fish Citizens
The people of Bikini Bottom have change drastically in appearance. In the old episodes, the fish looked more like actual fish, as they had fins and other actual anatomical parts. In later episodes, the fish look the same, but many new ones were introduced that look more like humans.
There were also other types of sea creatures in Bikini Bottom, like a squid girl with a kilt, but they started to be absent in a large number of episodes.
Starting in Season 4, the fish seem very negative towards SpongeBob because of his new stereotypical personality.
