Hello there, I am Tanhamman, an active contributor and former administrator to Encyclopedia SpongeBobia (ESB) or the SpongeBob wiki. spongebob.wikia.com/wiki/Message_Wall:Tanhamman

I would like to address the use and placement of FANDOM videos on certain articles. It has come to my attention, as well as numerous other users on the wikis attention, that the videos FANDOM has opted to place on some of our articles do not serve a relevant purpose. And we kindly ask FANDOM staff to remove all FANDOM videos from our wiki. I understand that FANDOM may not want to remove the videos that they forcefully and unwelcomely added to our wiki. But numerous users have brought up many accurate and fair points that should illustrate the necessity of this request. Videos that have been produced by FANDOM and unfortunately added to ESB have numerous clerical errors, video production errors, copyright infringement errors, as well as theft from our wiki to produce these videos. Some videos, like the one on the Cuddle E. Hugs page, inform the viewer that SpongeBob snuck moldy Krabby Patties into customers orders. This is a blatant clerical mistake, when in fact SpongeBob gave away the patties. For the video on the Pearl Krabs page, this video was so sloppily edited together, it is abysmal to watch. It looks as though some material was stolen directly off YouTube (from the episode SpongeBob You’re Fired) and other parts of it were someone using a cellphone camera to directly videotape the screen of a television. And for the F.U.N. Song page, the script used by the narrator blatantly reads word-for-word off of the wiki, without proper or appropriate sourcing or credit to neither ESB nor the company that produces the SpongeBob SquarePants TV show (Viacom). Frankly, if you can’t use some of your for-profit money to fund a decently producible video, I would suggest that you do not produce any videos at all.

And at the end of every video, you tell the viewer to check out the page on the SpongeBob wiki for more information. Trouble is, the viewer is already on the page itself and getting a video to tell them to check out the page they were already trying to check out. I understand that FANDOM is trying to modernize wikis with these videos. However, FANDOM IS FAILING! The people narrating these videos sound bored and one-dimensional with their voices, as if it is a CHORE to narrate. The video quality differs video-to-video, but is overall a large copyright infringement if I ever saw any. And the writing for these videos is poorly conceived and sloppily written, thus resulting in an even worse video. We cannot remove the videos and we cannot change their placement. They are a nuisance to our users, and a drain to our wiki.

We at Encyclopedia SpongeBobia (spongebob.wikia.com) request for all FANDOM videos to be removed from our wiki. 100% of polled users would agree in removing these videos from ESB.

If you are actually about the user experience, FANDOM, perhaps you listen to the people who help put money indirectly into your pockets. These videos do not assist the user experience, and they will not render a better profit from Ads to FANDOM. TRUST THE USERS. Staff aren’t the ones driving profit for FANDOM. The USERS are the ones with the most influence. And the USERS will be heard.
