The gorilla, also known as Gorilla Man, is a character who first appears as the main antagonist in the episode "I Had an Accident."

Description

He's a black and gray gorilla who lives underwater. "Friend or Foe" reveals that he's a fry cook who got hired to replace Patchy the Pirate in the Poop Deck.

Role in series

"I Had an Accident"

He first appears disguised as Patrick and then stuffs the real Patrick and Sandy into a bag and attacks them, which makes SpongeBob finally go outside to save them. Then the gorilla grabs SpongeBob and tears him in half. SpongeBob apologizes to Patrick and Sandy for causing all this, declaring that he's no longer scared of going outside anymore, but is terrified of gorillas now. They forgive SpongeBob and say that they're terrified of gorillas, too.

When SpongeBob asks what the gorilla is doing underwater in the first place, the gorilla panics and flees on George before they can question him any further, leaving everybody, including the family watching the episode on TV, confused.

"Friend or Foe"

The gorilla appears in the live-action Patchy segment as his replacement at the Poop Deck. When Patchy find the gorilla in his kitchen, he calls him "a smelly, hairy fleabag," causing the gorilla to get angry and throw food at him.

"Dome Alone"

The gorilla makes a brief cameo in this episode, when Sandy calls SpongeBob to help her spy on Plankton, SpongeBob is suddenly attacked by the gorilla.

Unlike his previous appearances, the gorilla isn't played by a suit performer and is instead simply just a stock video.
