Synopsis
"Patrick picks up a king's crown seashell, even though SpongeBob had warned him that it was bad luck.
The next day, Patrick realizes that it is bad luck, saying, "I'm having a bad luck day." However, SpongeBob tells him that the shell is nothing but a normal one. Patrick keeps having bad luck, so he and SpongeBob put on their hazard suits and they remove every shell from their houses, and with the bad luck, Patrick makes sure he is not stepping with his left foot first, but the bad luck keeps happening and they encounter the black snail. SpongeBob and Patrick count 23 uh-ohs.
SpongeBob and Patrick find a way to end Patrick's bad luck and the story ends."

- On page one, John Sterchi says the title, "Bad Luck Day", and he says "It's Patrick's unlucky day! Read along as SpongeBob tries to help Patrick break his streak of bad luck. You will know it is time to turn the page when you hear this sound: (sound effects) And now, Bad Luck Day!".
