The Never-Ending Stay

From SpongeBob Wiki
Book

The Never-Ending Stay is a SpongeBob SquarePants read-along Story Reader book that is published by Publications International, Ltd in 2005. This book is narrated by John Sterchi, Tom Kenny playing the voice of SpongeBob and Bill Fagerbakke playing the voice of Patrick.

Synopsis

The book is about a visit by Todd SquarePants, SpongeBob's cousin. Todd tells SpongeBob that he is supposed to live in SpongeBob's house forever. For the next few days, Todd lazes around the house leaving nothing but pizza boxes and smelly socks. SpongeBob asks Todd if we can go out jellyfishing on Tuesday, then Boating School on Wednesday, and getting a Krabby Patty on Thursday. SpongeBob and Patrick are playing Remember When, then he lowers the net on SpongeBob and he puts him on the bus to Rock Bottom So, it's just Patrick and Todd. In the end, Todd doesn't stay over forever and leaves.

At his house, Patrick is tired from helping SpongeBob with Todd and hears a knock. Patrick tells the person to come in and it is revealed to be his cousin Ed who states he will stay for the next 14 weeks.

Trivia

  • On page one, John Sterchi says the title, "The Never-Ending Stay", and he says, "Someone new has come to Bikini Bottom! Will he be a welcome guest? Read along to find out if SpongeBob and Patrick meet SpongeBob's visitor, his cousin Todd. You will know it is time to turn the page when you hear this sound: (sound effects) And now, The Never-Ending Stay!".
  • The title is a spoof on the 1983 book The Neverending Story.
  • Coincidentally, SpongeBob calls himself "Todd" in the episode "Patrick's Staycation."
  • The sentence of "A few hours later" has the same book as The Amazing Spider-Man: House Call.
  • The quote of SpongeBob's "Patrick, remember when we rode in Sandy's rocket?", "Remember when we went to Boating School together?", and "Remember--", and Todd's quote, "Remember when you kept saying 'No' to that SpongeBob impostor?" are just like Littlefoot's quote, "Um,

you wanna look for tiny longnecks now?" in The Land Before Time XI: Invasion of the Tinysauruses.
