Clancy Brown
Template:Person Clarence J. "Clancy" Brown III (born January 5, 1959; age Template:Age) is an American actor and voice actor. He is a main cast member for the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, voicing Template:Data:Links. Outside of the series, Brown is well-known for his roles as Captain Byron Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, the Kurgan in Highlander, and Superman's archenemy Lex Luthor in various DC-affiliated movies and tv shows.
Biography
Brown was born on January 5, 1959, in Urbana, Ohio,[1] and had an older sister, Beth (c.1957–1964).[2] His mother, Joyce Helen (Eldridge), was a conductor, composer and concert pianist. His father, Clarence J. "Bud" Brown, Jr., was a newspaper publisher who helped manage the Brown Publishing Company, the family-owned newspaper business started by Clancy's grandfather, Congressman Clarence J. Brown. From 1965-1983, Bud Brown also served as a congressman, and later as Chairman of the Board of Brown Publishing. The family operated the business until 2010.
Brown graduated from St. Albans School in Washington, DC and Northwestern University.[3]

Trivia
- When forming Mr. Krabs' laugh, the show's creator, Stephen Hillenburg was telling Brown to chuckle faster and faster, until he formed the laugh of Mr. Krabs.
- According to a 2013 interview, Brown improvised Mr. Krabs' voice when auditioning for the role.[4]
- Employee of the Month, Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, SpongeBob SquarePants Saves the Day, Nickelodeon Toon Twister 3-D, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie video game, Lights, Camera, Pants!, Underpants Slam!, Plankton's Robotic Revenge, SpongeBob HeroPants, and The Cosmic Shake are the only video games that had Clancy Brown voice Mr. Krabs.
- Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast and SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D: Ride are the only rides that had Clancy Brown voice Mr. Krabs.
- During the song "The Very First Christmas" in "Christmas Who?," he was unable to sing that high so they hired Dee Bradley Baker to sing Mr. Krabs' falsetto voice.
- Clancy Brown publicly admitted he felt uncomfortable recording the lines for Mr. Krabs in "One Coarse Meal" because he hated how Mr Krabs was written as a cruel and heartless monster.
