Synopsis
The episode begins with a show called Everyone is Horrible, hosted by Squidward. Squidward complains about Bubble Bass for being gross, then is about to say something about SpongeBob, only to be told by a stagehand that his show is being ended early. In its place is a show called Fun-Believable with Rube, where he highlights interesting sights around Bikini Bottom. He visits Sandy Cheeks' treedome, only for SpongeBob and Patrick to interrupt him, asking to show him something cool. They eventually get nervous and leave, and Sandy's treedome outfits Rube with a water helmet, then lets him in.
Sandy shows her "secret skill": holding the record for the most nuts stored in her cheeks. She demonstrates, and SpongeBob and Patrick run in, accidentally crashing into Rube. He is swallowed whole by Sandy, along with the rest of the nuts, but agrees to let them on the show later.
Next, Rube goes to Nosferatu's castle. Slappy throws his head to start a Rube Goldberg machine, ending in an advertisement for Fizzy Fang soda. Rube is impressed, and SpongeBob and Patrick rise out of two coffins. However, they are not yet ready and go back to hiding.
Rube then goes to Baby Prunes' house, where she and Mary live. Baby Prunes tells Rube that she used to be wilder and more active in her youth, and Rube doubts it. Baby Prunes proves it by taking a helicopter around town. Rube enjoys the flight, but she begins driving it out of control. Perch Perkins and his grandmother are reporting on a traffic pile-up when Baby Prunes' helicopter bumps into theirs. Arguing over who is older, Mrs. Perkins and Baby Prunes get into a fight. Perch jumps out of the helicopter, while Rube stays to report. The helicopters crash and fall into Glove World!, where Mary and Perch are waiting for them. As they are taken away in wheelchairs, Mrs. Perkins disintegrates into dust, making Baby Prunes realize that she really was the oldest.
As Rube is signing off, SpongeBob and Patrick state that they are ready to show him their trick. They morph their bodies into the word "Fun-Believable," delighting Rube. Squidward, on his show, shouts "Horrible!" and turns it off.

Storyboards
- Rough boarded by Adam Paloian.[5][9]
Deleted scenes
- These scenes, featuring Mr. Krabs showing Rube what was on the Krusty Krab's "secret menu," as well as Rube landing into Jellyfish Fields and getting stung by two jellyfish were cut from the final episode, possibly for time.[1][2][3][4]
- According to the way Paloian orders the storyboards on Instagram, the Krusty Krab bit was set to start off the episode, and Rube getting zapped by jellyfish was to take place after Sandy tries to set a nut-eating record.[5]
Production notes
Adam Paloian:
- This was the first time Paloian had ever worked with Rube, and he had a lot of fun storyboarding this episode, especially with the character acting.[5] He said that the episode was "wonderfully supervising directed by Sherm Cohen and his amazing plussing crew!"[9]

Trivia
General
- This episode was set to unofficially debut on Nickelodeon on July 2, 2023 at 7:45 AM,[10] but it was quickly shafted for a rerun of "King Plankton," likely being a scheduling error.[11]
- This episode was originally scheduled to premiere on the same day at 1:00 PM, but it was moved to 5:00 PM.
- This episode's title is a portmanteau of the words "fun" and "unbelievable."
- When Squidward pulls down a list of his "47 more beefs," one of the characters pictured is Granny Tentacles. She uses her design from The Patrick Star Show instead of "Chum Fricassee."
- The images of Rube used to transition between scenes are all traced from his first appearance, "No Pictures Please."
- Rube says that Nosferatu's castle is a "historic Bikini Bottom landmark." However, in "Squidferatu" and "Slappy Daze," it is shown to be located in a village outside Bikini Bottom.
- The shot of Rube looking at Bikini Bottom from the helicopter appears to be based on similar shots from The Patrick Star Show episodes "Enemies à la Mode" and "The Starry Awards." Because of this, the Star house from said series is also visible.
- In the UK and Ireland, the scene where Perch Perkins announces that he is jumping down from a helicopter is edited to darken the screen.[12]
Episode references
- Sandy holds the world record for holding the most nuts in her mouth, possibly referencing the events of the episode "Squirrel Record"; however, in that episode it was revealed that all of the records Sandy broke were from a book that was 30 years old.
- Nosferatu's castle and vampire form, as well as Slappy's ability to disjoint his head return from "Squidferatu" and "Slappy Daze," although bat Nosferatu is not traditionally animated like in his first appearance, instead featuring his head plastered over animated wings.
- Rube had previously interviewed Baby Prunes and her daughter in The Patrick Star Show episode "Patrick's Got a Zoo Loose," which also featured an appearance by Nosferatu and Slappy.
- Baby Prunes' aggressive attitude and thirst for thrills return from "Biddy Sitting," putting Rube in danger by almost diving a helicopter straight into the ground.
- Old Mrs. Perkins from The Patrick Star Show episode "The Drooling Fool" returns, now at war with Baby Prunes over who's the oldest town resident. She later proves herself right, turning to dust after their lengthy battle.
- One of the faces seen on SpongeBob and Patrick when they're about to do their "Fun-Believable" stunt references their expressions while preparing to jellyfish in "Jellyfishing."
- This is the last apperance of Glove World! until Season 16's "SpongeBob and Patrick's Timeline Twist-Up".
Cultural references
- When Baby Prunes says, "Hey, you, get off of my cloud!," she references the 1965 song "Get Off of My Cloud" by The Rolling Stones.
- In this episode's rough boards, morlocks originally appeared in the episode, a fictional species who first appeared in H. G. Wells' 1895 novel The Time Machine.[3]
Errors
- When SpongeBob says, "It's FUN-Believable," his mouth disappears for a split second.
- When Rube says, "Yeah, later would be good!," SpongeBob freezes mid-blink. Additionally, the white coloring on Sandy's stomach is missing.
- SpongeBob's tie is colored brown like his pants while he and Patrick rise out of the coffins at Nosferatu's castle.
