Nathaniel has appeared in only two episodes so far, as well as a book based on one of episodes that he appears in. He has been absent from the series for over 20 years ever since his debut in "Sleepy Time" but later made a comeback in the season 14 episode "Don't Make Me Laugh." He was firstly designed to be one of the many fancy fish watching Squidward's performance in his dream.
