Template:LTab Template:Location Brain Coral Fields is a place at the bottom of a cliff near Jellyfish Fields that appears in the episode "Patrick SmartPants," when Template:Data:Links and Template:Data:Links are jellyfishing and playing in Jellyfish Fields.

Description

It is a field where grass and sand meet with brain coral everywhere. There is also a wooden sign that reads "Brain Coral Fields."

Role in episode

SpongeBob spots a sign revealing that there is a dangerous cliff, which Patrick cannot read and runs straight towards the sign, smashing through it, and falling off the cliff into a place known as the "Brain Coral Fields." SpongeBob walks towards a hole and pulls out an object resembling Patrick's head, but is actually a piece of brain coral which makes him extremely intelligent after SpongeBob attaches it to Patrick's body.

After several unsuccessful attempts of getting Patrick to play childish games with him again, SpongeBob feels depressed about Patrick's behavior from before, in which the latter says he can no longer be his best friend anymore. It is then revealed that Patrick was willing to end his intelligence for the sake of friendship with SpongeBob.

The two are then shown back at the place where the plot began, and Patrick decides to run towards the sign again, and lands in Brain Coral Fields once more. Patrick then tells SpongeBob where he found his head, which SpongeBob points on his side. Patrick then explains that it could not have landed in that spot and measures the place where he crashes and then calculates that his actual head was five meters to north. SpongeBob then spots the "Brain Coral Fields" sign and discovers what really happened. Patrick then removes the brain coral from his body and SpongeBob plugs in his old head again, in exchange for his smartness. The episode concludes happily and the two finally become best friends again.

The brain corals resemble Patrick's head, hence SpongeBob mistaking a brain coral for it.
