"Legend of the Lost Bathroom" is a The Patrick Star Show episode from season 3. In this episode, Patrick and Squidina embark on a quest to find the lost bathroom.

Characters

Synopsis

On The Patrick Show!, Patrick is being fed prunes and soon hits the one million mark. Patrick uses coffee, salsa, and prune juice to wash down the prunes, needing to use the bathroom afterwards. Patrick tries to rush to the upstairs bathroom, but Cecil is inside doing taxes with Tinkle. Patrick attempts to go to the downstairs bathroom instead, but GrandPat gets there first. GrandPat tells Patrick and Squidina that the house has a "lost bathroom," but no one has ever managed to get there.

Patrick and Squidina go on a quest to find the lost bathroom, first using a riddle as a clue. Patrick runs into Daddy Dartfish, who is hinted at as a potential answer to the riddle. Patrick goes inside the Dartfish home, where Mommy Dartfish gives him a special scroll of toilet paper. The toilet paper scroll has a map of the Star house's living room, and Patrick and Squidina notice more clues on it, specifically holes relating to numbers on the cell phone chair. Patrick butt-dials the chair, and it unveils a secret passageway into the house's basement.

Patrick and Squidina enter the secret passageway and notice two buttons after crossing a gap. Patrick falls onto the red button, resulting in him and Squidina falling to a tomb. Dr. Plumber is in the tomb, and he gives Patrick and Squidina puzzles to solve around the room. Patrick uses a sledgehammer to destroy one of the sinks, finding a key. He uses another sledgehammer to bust open a secret door. While entering the door, Patrick falls to ground and he and Squidina think that they have completed their quest, but Dr. Plumber tells them they still have to dig underneath the "X" mark.

Patrick and Squidina dig to finally find the lost bathroom, only for it to be revealed that it is owned by King Neptune. King Neptune catches them and flushes them down the toilet, but they soon come back up. Neptune flushes Patrick and Squidina again, resulting in them going through several pipes. They end up back in the Star home, as Patrick says that he does not have to go anymore. Squidina suggests that Patrick tries the two million prune challenge, and they go and do the show. The inside of Patrick's heart is shown, with Slappy inside the lost bathroom, as he flushes himself down the toilet.

Production notes

Eliza Herndon:

  • "This episode was a challenge, but as much fun of a challenge as doing an episode entirely centered around literal bathroom humor can be–which is to say, VERY fun! The Sponge fan and historian in me is VERY excited knowing I got to get my hands on King Neptune (and the other Neptune's crown!)!! What an honor! I learned so much about animation (particularly arcs!!) and staging in this one. I loved getting to experiment with the difference in scale between Pat/Squidina and Neptune and, conversely, Patrick and the Dartfish family! (poor guys)."[3]

Amanda Donahue:

  • Donahue storyboarded the scene where Patrick and Squidina run into Dr. Plumber in the tomb. "Another beast of an episode and section right after the last one, but again I ended up with a sequence that I'm really proud of. Some behind the scenes info; we aren't working from final recordings most of the time when doing the plussing, even though it would help immensely to have the acting since we do so much animation basically during this stage, so a lot of revisions have to be done once recordings are finalized to match that. I pushed and was able to get the Pipes Templar Knight's audio in time to do this since I knew there was so much character animation that needed to be done. I'm super happy with how it turned out, and really got to show my character animation chops. Also I was again doing a lot of design work with the backgrounds which was very fun to have it reference Last Crusade while also being a lost temple of toiletry lol"[6]
