Birds

Birds are a group of warm-blooded vertebrates constituting the class Aves. Despite scallops and clams being the underwater equivalent to birds in the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, several actual birds have appeared in the series.

Description

Birds are usually portrayed as having a beak, small feet, and wings. Their colors can vary.

"SpongeBob SquarePants Theme Song"

A painted parrot can be seen next to Painty the Pirate's head at the start of the theme song.

"Tea at the Treedome"

An orange bird is seen, it being one of Template:Data:Links's pets. It is seen bathing in its birdbath, and gets angry when Template:Data:Links uses the water in it.

"Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost"

A flock of seagulls is seen flying in the background near the end of the episode, when Template:Data:Links is trapped inside a bubble above water.

"Sleepy Time"

A parakeet with light green feathers, blue eyes, a red beak, and brown feet is seen in Sandy's dream. SpongeBob thinks Sandy said to bring a parakeet when she actually meant a parachute. However, SpongeBob cannot hear correctly due to the rate at which they are falling.

"Your Shoe's Untied"

The painted parrot can be seen when SpongeBob lands on a painting of Painty.

"Wormy"

A blue bird with white eyes and an orange beak is seen, known as Birdy. It is another pet of Sandy's. He is seen in his birdcage, and Patrick whistles a call to him, in which he think he's speaking Italian.

"Christmas Who?"

Potty the Parrot makes their first appearance in this episode. He is Patchy the Pirate's pet parrot.

"Shanghaied"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments.

"Party Pooper Pants"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments. A band known as The Bird Brains, compromised entirely out of birds, is also seen, performing at Patchy's house during his party. Female parrots are also seen kissing Patchy during a point in this episode.

"New Student Starfish"

A chick known as Roger appears. He begins as an egg, but appears at the end of an episode as a chick asking what he missed.

"Ugh"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments.

"The Sponge Who Could Fly"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments.

"Have You Seen This Snail?"

Potty makes a cameo during the SpongeBob SquarePants special intro.

"Selling Out"

A yellow canary, with orange feet and a beak is seen. It appears in Mr. Krabs' office, chirping, when he sings "the sweetest sound I've heard" during the Feeling of Greed song.

"Friend or Foe"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments. His role is more major here, as he had a fight with Patchy.

"Atlantis SquarePantis"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments. Patchy meets a vulture in this episode, offering it his sandwich since he doesn't like mayonnaise.

"Pest of the West"

Potty makes a cameo during the SpongeBob SquarePants special intro.

"What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?"

Potty makes a cameo during the SpongeBob SquarePants special intro.

"House Fancy"

A bird of white is seen flying during the House Fancy intro, with blue eyes and an orange beak. Its head makes an appearance in place of the "O" in House, during one of the transitions. It later appears during another transition, where it's on top of the house.

"Truth or Square"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments. The painted parrot also appears before each rejected theme song.

"Squidward in Clarinetland"

An eagle head appears in Clarinetland. Squidward encounters him looking for his clarinet. It believes that clarinets cannot be owned, and eats Squidward.

"The Masterpiece"

A chicken known as Mr. Sea Chicken appears, promoting his restaurant, the Sea Chicken Shack. He also appears as a climbable statue for kids outside his restaurant.

"It's a SpongeBob Christmas!"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments.

"Two Thumbs Down"

A crow appears during one of the live action scenes when SpongeBob breaks his thumbs.

"Unreal Estate"

The painted parrot can be seen during the SpongeBob parody intros.

"Code Yellow"

SpongeBob uses a medical sea chicken and plucks one of its feathers to tickle the catfish.

"Feral Friends"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments.

"Goons on the Moon"

A seagull appears when Bikini Bottom is show extremely dry. The vulture from Atlantis SquarePantis also reappears in this episode, when Squidward is looking at the moon's craters.

"Sandy's Nutty Nieces"

A seagull lands on SpongeBob's extremely long bump.

"SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout"

Potty makes appearances during the Patchy segments.

"SpongeBob's Road to Christmas"

Potty appears with Patchy at Christmas Land Theme Park.

"A Skin Wrinkle in Time

The painted parrot appears in the wormhole as GrandPat goes through Painty's mouth.

"Salty Sponge"

A family of ducks appears crossing the road. SpongeBob lets them cross the road.

"Friendiversary"

Roger's prototype appears in the episode, lighting up a cannon. One of the members of the duck family can also be seen when SpongeBob shakes the ladder of the Sushi-Maker to get Squidward down.

"Dopey Dick"

A parrot counterpart of Template:Data:Links known as Planky appears.

"Plankton and the Beanstalk"

A goose counterpart of SpongeBob appears known as SpongeGoose, with him laying some Golden Patties.

Trivia

• The bird from House Fancy is one of the only CGI characters in the show.
  • This makes it one of the only CGI birds in the show.
  • It is unknown whether it lives underwater or in the air.
• Several types of bird appear in the series, from ducks to parrots to vultures.
• Several birds have been seen underwater, despite not actually being able to breathe underwater realistically. These include:
  • The parakeet from Sleepy Time.
  • Roger
  • The canary from Selling Out.
  • Mr. Sea Chicken.
  • The eagle head.
  • Planky.
  • SpongeGoose.
    • The duck family and the sea chicken are seen wearing water helmets, however.
• The following birds do not live in water:
