Pecos Patrick
Pecos Patrick was a paternal ancestor of Patrick Star and Gary the Snail and SpongeBuck SquarePants' friend. He first appears in the episode "Pest of the West." Pecos is always there for SpongeBuck and the two became best friends. He also loved to Spurskate, the latest Dead Eye Gulch craze.
Description
Pecos Patrick is a sea star. He is very similar to Patrick but he wears western style light blue overalls with a beige, long sleeve shirt, and has a single tooth to the side. He also sports a brown cowboy hat on the top of his pointed head. His complexion is pink, much like his descendant.
Personality
Pecos is much like his descendant, Patrick Star. He is not the brightest and is constantly causing his friend, SpongeBuck SquarePants, into getting himself into dire or even fatal situations.
However, despite his neurological deficiency, he still has a never-say-die attitude and approaches situations with caution and never likes to give up, as shown by him motivating SpongeBob to save the town.
Role in series
"Pest of the West"
Pecos Patrick is first spotted when he warns the Krusty Kantina about Dead Eye Plankton. He then sings a song about the no good varmint and brings up how Dead Eye pulled his pants down. He immediately forgets who Dead Eye is after the song only to remember when he pulls his pants down again.
He soon catches up to SpongeBuck SquarePants as the latter attempts to saw his "stallion," a wooden coffin. He encourages SpongeBuck that it is not the end and that he can still defeat Dead Eye Plankton if he believes in himself.
He befriends SpongeBuck, calling him his "idiot friend."

Trivia
- Pecos Patrick's name is a parody of the famous western folk tale, "Pecos Bill," as well as the Pecos River.
- A running gag between Pecos Patrick and Dead Eye Plankton is the latter pulling Pecos Patrick's pants down.
- He is never referred to by name in the episode. He is only referred to as "This Guy" by SpongeBuck at the end.
- In "Something Narwhal This Way Comes," Patrick's hillbilly design is also similar to that of Pecos Patrick.
