Birds
Birds are a group of warm-blooded vertebrates constituting the class Aves. Despite scallops and clams being the underwater equivalent to birds in the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise, several actual birds have appeared in the series.
Description
Birds are usually portrayed as having a beak, small feet, and wings. Their colors can vary.
Painted parrot
The painted parrot is Painty the Pirate's pet parrot who appears at the beginning of the show's opening sequence. He also makes appearances in "Your Shoe's Untied," "Truth or Square," "Unreal Estate," and "A Skin Wrinkle in Time."
Sandy's orange bird
Sandy's orange bird is one of Template:Data:Links's pets who appears in "Tea at the Treedome". It is seen bathing in its birdbath, and gets angry when Template:Data:Links uses the water in it. It makes another appearance in "A Fish Called Sandy".
Seagulls
Seagulls are white birds that appear in several episodes, including "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost," "Pressure," "Goons on the Moon," "Sandy's Nutty Nieces," and "Firehouse Bob." They are often seen near Bikini Atoll. Seagulls known as the Seagull Crew appear in "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water".
Parakeet
In "Sleepy Time", a parakeet with light green feathers, blue eyes, a red beak, and brown feet is seen in Sandy's dream. SpongeBob thinks Sandy said to bring a parakeet when she actually meant a parachute. However, SpongeBob cannot hear correctly due to the rate at which they are falling.
Birdy
Birdy is another pet of Sandy's, who appears in the episode "Wormy." He is seen in his birdcage, and Patrick whistles a call to him, in which he thinks he's speaking Italian.
Potty the Parrot
Potty is Patchy the Pirate's pet parrot, who often appears in episodes with him. Potty is one of the more supporting bird characters of the show, acting as the co-host of the show along with Patchy.
The Bird Brains
The Bird Brains are a group of puppets that Potty the Parrot hired to play in the episode "Party Pooper Pants." They are a punk-rock band who played the song "Underwater Sun." They were portrayed by the band The Cramps.
Female parrots
The female parrots are a group of female birds that appear in the episodes "Party Pooper Pants", as well as archive footage seen in "Truth or Square." The female parrots, who have an attraction to Patchy, start kissing him many times.
Roger
Roger is a chick who appears in the episode "New Student Starfish," as well as his animated form in "Friendiversary." For most of "New Student Starfish," he is unhatched. According to Template:Data:Links, the purpose of Roger's egg is to teach the students the meaning of life. Roger's shell represents the fragile line between life and death when behind the wheel of a boat. The light bulb on top of Roger represents knowledge; without its energy, Roger would die.
In order for Roger to live, he needs a working lightbulb hanging above to keep him warm, and is held in an egg holder within a glass box. He hatches as a chick at the end of the episode.
Canary
A yellow canary, with orange feet and a beak is seen in the episode "Selling Out." It appears in Template:Data:Links' office, chirping, when he sings "the sweetest sound I've heard" during the Feeling of Greed song.
Vulture
Appears in the episodes "Atlantis SquarePantis" and "Goons on the Moon." In the former episode, Patchy offers it his sandwich since he doesn't like mayonnaise. In the latter episode, it is seen when Template:Data:Links is venturing inside the moon's craters.
CGI bird
A white CGI bird made out of basic shapes with blue eyes and an orange beak that is seen in the episode "House Fancy," flying during the House Fancy intro. Its head makes an appearance in place of the "O" in House, during one of the transitions. It later appears during another transition, where it's on top of the house.
Eagle head
The keeper of the horned forest, who appears in the episode "Squidward in Clarinetland." Squidward says that he is looking for his clarinet, in which the eagle says that a clarinet cannot be owned. The eagle eats Squidward after he calls him a liar and after not believing that Squidward has learned respect.
Mr. Sea Chicken
A sea chicken that appears in the episode "The Masterpiece." He is the mascot of the Sea Chicken Shack, in which his ad plays after an episode of As the Tide Turns. A statue of him can be seen outside the restaurant.
The Seagull Crew
A crew of seagulls that appears in "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water," often with Burger Beard.
Crow
A crow that is seen briefly in "Two Thumbs Down", during the montage of live action scenes when SpongeBob breaks his thumbs.
Sea chicken
A sea chicken that appears in the episode "Code Yellow" and "The Yard Sale." In the former episode, SpongeBob uses a medical sea chicken and plucks one of its feathers to tickle the catfish. In the latter episode, it is seen at Pappy Farms.
Duck family
A family of ducks that appear in several episodes, starting with "Salty Sponge." In that episode, SpongeBob sees them about to cross the road, and lets them cross before he continues walking. They also appear in Friendiversary and "Driven to Drive."
Planky
The 1830s, parakeet counterpart of Template:Data:Links, who appears in "Dopey Dick." He is seen with Capn' A. Krabs, being his partner throughout the episode.
SpongeGoose
A goose counterpart of SpongeBob, who appears in "Plankton and the Beanstalk." His opportunity is laying golden patties.
I.M. Poster the Pirate's bird
A chick that can be seen on I.M. Poster the Pirate's shoulder in the intro to "Bizarro Bottom".
