Synopsis
Patrick and Squidina are recording a "Pardon My Garden" segment for The Patrick Show!, where Patrick does in-home gardening. Squidina suggests to do the segment outside, where Patrick attempts to plant a seed, but the seeds are repeatedly taken by a root underground. Patrick fishes out the root, who introduces himself as Shmandrake. Cecil, Bunny, and GrandPat come to investigate Shmandrake, who offers the family a wish on the condition of staying at their house.
The family attempt to impress Shmandrake to get the wish out of him. Shmandrake soon requests sleep, as the family leave, with Squidina observing him. GrandPat, Cecil, and Bunny fantasize about their wishes, while Patrick struggles to think of his. A thought bubble Patrick gives the actual one the idea to talk to Shmandrake before the rest of the family can.
Shmandrake tries to watch TV, but finds Patrick on every channel. Patrick continues to think of his wish while GrandPat, Bunny and Cecil try to impress him. Shmandrake, however, refuses to offer a wish to any of them. The Star family feed Shmandrake several things to eat, hoping that he will offer them the wish, but Shmandrake still does not give the wish to any of them.
Patrick asks Squidina for help to impress Shmandrake, but Squidina reveals that Shmandrake does not offer any wishes and tricks people into thinking he does. Patrick misinterprets what Squidina says and attempts to pamper Shmandrake, offering him to use a tanning bed. Patrick becomes tired later on, with the rest of the family already sleeping. They are waken up by a smell, revealed to be steam coming from the tanning bed, as Shmandrake ends up cooked.
The Star family eat Shmandrake, as his head soon revives. Shmandrake heads outside of the house in disbelief, but walks into Squidina, who threatens to bury him if she does not get a wish. She wishes that the family did not find Shmandrake to begin with, which Shmandrake is relieved at, and grants the wish. Things are reset to when Patrick is gardening, except Patrick finds a genie lamp this time. Squidina groans at this and wishes that "this cartoon was over," and the wish is granted, ending the episode.

Trivia
General
- When Shmandrake resets everything back to normal, and Patrick ends up finding a genie's lamp during his gardening show, Squidina exclaims that she wishes "this cartoon was over already," and it ends, breaking the fourth wall.
- Bunny's tired face that is seen when handing out pancakes to Shmandrake is similar to the face she makes when she is seen lying on the stairs about to give the family jam sandwiches in "Stair Wars," seemingly having taken a blow.
Episode references
- Cecil hits Patrick with a flyswatter and says "Foinsapp!". This is a reference to "Klopnodian Heritage Festival," where "foinsapp" is the tradition of swatting flies.
- Patrick's Pat's Jelly Rock Shack outfit from "The Patrick Show Sells Out" returns while trying to bribe Shmandrake on TV. He also appears in his chef outfit from "Pearl Wants to Be a Star."
- Patrick's poorly drawn thought bubble self is similar to how he imagines Bunny in "Just in Time for Christmas."
Errors
- Whenever this episode airs in the UK and Ireland as a standalone, TV sources have the summary of the plot incorrectly. Instead, the summary says "The Crew has a mishap while building a skatepark," when it was actually from an episode of Rubble and Crew.
- The summary is shown correctly if it was to air with its sister episode, and its premiere.
