A sea spider is a spider that dwells underwater. They appear in "Bossy Boots," "Patty Hype," "Ghost Host," "Wigstruck," "Ghoul Fools," "Patrick's Coupon," "Ink Lemonade," "Mustard O' Mine," "The Night Patty," "Cabin of Curiosities," "Outhouse Outrage," "Are You Afraid of the Dork?," "Squidferatu," and "Slappy Daze."

Description

The sea spider looks similar to a sea urchin, and in "Bossy Boots," "Patty Hype," "Ghost Host," "Wigstruck," "Ghoul Fools," and "Mustard O' Mine" they are small and far less menacing. In "Patrick's Coupon," they look very similar to real spiders with a grayish body and red eyes. The spider's legs are hairy and extended to suit the body. They also have a gland on their abdomen to spin out webs.

Sea spiders have monstrous teeth and eight compound eyes.

"Home Sweet Pineapple"

SpongeBob is mistaken for a spider by Patrick.

"Bossy Boots"

One is in the Kuddly Krab office's safe.

"Patty Hype"

When SpongeBob's Pretty Patties establishment takes off, the Krusty Krab becomes overrun with spider webs. One spider is seen hanging down and crying while watching a sad movie with Mr. Krabs. When Mr. Krabs is distracted by the news interruption of the hype of the Pretty Patties, the spider steals his popcorn.

"Fear of a Krabby Patty"

When Plankton appears like one, Mr. Krabs mistakes him for a spider bug.

"SpongeHenge"

When SpongeBob enters the cave, the camera pans to a sea spider on a rock.

"Ghost Host"

They emerge from the Flying Dutchman when he is in his SpongeBob forms.

"Wigstruck"

When SpongeBob is wearing Ned's wig and Squidward points out that it is infested with parasites, bugs crawl out from it—tickling SpongeBob—and back into it.

One is in the haunted house boat, where Patrick claims that the spiders are fake.

The sea spider is mentioned several times; SpongeBob and Patrick think that Squidward's toupee is one and smash it whenever they see it.

"Patrick's Coupon"

The sea spider fights with Patrick at the beginning of the episode. Patrick attempts to use his sofa chair as a self-defense weapon, but it disintegrates into sand. Patrick then backs up before ending up in a spider web. He tries to free himself to no avail. The sea spider crawls down and Patrick attempts to blow it away, but the sea spider crawls onto him, shoots its web onto Patrick's eye and traps him in a cocoon. The sea spider then cuts the web and Patrick falls to the floor, finding his lost ice cream coupon in the process.

Patrick then directly speaks to the spider, parting ways with it to go out to buy himself some ice cream.

"The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom"

Depictions of them are used for Halloween throughout Bikini Bottom.

"Ink Lemonade"

A sea spider by the name of Mildred appears.

A talking sea spider resembling Mildred from "Ink Lemonade" is a Krusty Krab night shift customer in The Tidal Zone.
