Trivia

  • This is the first season for several things:
    • The first season to end with a double-length episode.
    • The first season where the ambient water sound effect in the background is reduced heavily in volume, only able to be faintly heard in quiet scenes, such as in "Gullible Pants" during Spongebob's dancing.
      • However, in some episodes or scenes, it is straight up missing, such as in "Not Normal" when Squidward is getting back into bed in the beginning.
    • The first season to have 26 half-hour episodes, and for that matter the first season to have any number of episodes other than 20.
    • The first season to finish its broadcast after the 2009 Nickelodeon rebrand. However, majority of the season still aired before the rebrand.
    • The first season to have a widescreen episode. Another widescreen episode was produced for season 8. However, the series wouldn't permanently switch over to widescreen until season 9.
    • The first season not to play "Moloka'i Nui", "On Fire", "Death Trap", "Sunny Samoa" "Airs And Graces", "Against the Law" or "Dombummel".
  • This is the last season for a few things:
    • The last season of the main series whose DVD release is split into volumes.
    • The last season to finish production before the 2009 Nickelodeon rebrand.
  • Most DVD releases of this season do not list the episodes in packaging order nor airing order and instead arrange the episodes in the order used on the season 6 compilation DVDs.
  • Beginning with this season, there is permanently no fade to black from the title card to the opening credits; instead it cuts from black and fades back to the opening credits. The title card also doesn't fade in from black anymore.
  • This is the only season not to have an episode receiving under 3 million viewers.
  • According to concept art for the episodes, the first several half-hours of this season were produced in mid-to-late 2007. However, they were all copyrighted in 2008.
  • "The Clash of Triton" is the only episode to premiere in 2010.
