Problem reports

Hi. I dont know if you've noticed, but some of the users here have been reporting problems with pages using the ProblemReport system. You can see all the currently open reports at Special:ProblemReports. Click the magnifying glass to expand it. Once you have taken care of the problem, you can use the icons on the right to change the state of the report. 'Fixed' is when the issue has been fixed (even if it wasnt you). 'Closed' is for when it wasnt really a problem, like if someone is just abusing it. If its a bug that you cant fix, like something on the server, you can use the 'need staff help' and staff will be notified of it. --Uberfuzzy<staff /> 07:54, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

Sitenotice

As you may have noticed, many of the users requesting for adminship have very few edits and just about absolutely no experience with regards to the Wiki. Most of them are probably just readers of the Wiki, and have hardly touched any of the articles here. It is rather obvious that these RfAs have absolutely no chance of passing, and I request that you close these requests per the snowball clause, and exercise common sense here.

The high number of such requests is no doubt because of the sitenotice message asking for volunteers. I believe it is safe to say that if they understand the inner workings of the Wiki, the users themselves will request for adminship on their own. This sort of prompt to get more administrators is as such, a waste of our time, as many of these users do not understand what they are requesting for. Hey, for some reason I'm unable to change my avatar. Because whenever I try to choose the picture I want to make my new avatar and then press save, the avatar stays the same and doesn't change. False Episode

There is a page called 'Substitute Stomper'. It clearly says that the page is fan-fiction. Please contact the user that made the page, and direct them to the Spongebob Wiki, because people may think it is okay to make fake episodes.

I've been working on a new logo but have had trouble uploading it. As you can see in the past versions of File:Wiki-wordmark.png, the ThemeDesigner instantaneously reverted back to the eldest version as soon as I pressed upload. I think the designer might be excluding me specifically (it has a grudge) so I'm wondering if you could try reverting it to see what happens. Or, if you don't like it, leave a message on my talk page.

Custom namespace

I've been thinking about requesting a custom namespace called Date: so that the date pages stop showing up in search results. One of the requirements for this is agreement about it by the wiki, so I'd thought I'd come to you for a consensus. Note, making the date pages not content would make SpongePedia have more content pages than us, finally making their slogan true, but that's thinking in a competitive way looked down upon by general wiki communities.User:Airhogs777/signature

Oh, PS, the reason I would want to do this is so they would stop popping up on Special:Random and searches.

New banning page

Wrong information

There is some wrong information on this page.

It says: The sixth season of SpongeBob SquarePants premiered on March 3, 2008, with the episode "Krabby Road" and ended with the episode "Neptune's Party" on May 3, 2010.

It should be: The sixth season of SpongeBob SquarePants premiered on March 3, 2008, with the episode "Krabby Road" and ended with the episode "The Clash of Triton" on July 5, 2010.

And, there is some wrong information in table. It says that The Clash of Triton aired on May 3, 2010, but it airs on July 5, 2010.

Hy AMK152, I have few questions:

1. Can you put link to this page between Episodes and Fanon Wiki in main menu.
2. It seems that you put no need quote here and now link to The Clash of Triton is not working is not working.
3. And I also made few modifications for this page. Here is link to download suorce code that you should replace with existing source code on that page. That will remove Season 9 because it was never confirmed and embed this template into the article. So, I will be able to edit it and you will do not need to unprotect that article. I will put all shorts, movies and specials in it. And I will also look for those three things on SpongeBob DVDs's specials features. To avoid vandalism, you can also semi-protect that template so, only registred user will be able to edit it.

Templates

You have wrote this here: This template will replace Template:Episode

And you also start replacing those templates and you stopped on Naughty Nautical Neighbors. I think that it will be much easier to make Template:Episode looks like Template:Infobox episode and protect both templates, instead of editing every page that use that template. So, I decide to redisgn Template:Episode. I hope that you agree with that.

btw. I will fill "back and next" on every episode and transcript page. So, it will be easier to navigate trough pages.

  • 1. Using infobox in the title, like Wikipedia, specifies the template's purpose.
  • 2. Using elements in the newer template, a starter paragraph is generated at the beginning:
'''"{{PAGENAME}}"''' is a {{SBSP}} episode from [[List of season {{{season}}} episodes|season {{{seasonname}}}]]. In this episode, {{{briefsummary|}}}.

Which results in, for example: "Episode" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season one. In this episode, SpongeBob has some sort of adventure.

  • 3. The top navigation, for easy access to the succeeding and proceeding episodes, as well as a link to the full list and the respective episode's transcript (rather than a link on the article).
  • 4. The items in the old template use capitalization for their fields. In the new one, I have switched it to all lowercase for easier input if one had to input a field manually, rather than copy and paste the entire template. Wikipedia does this for the same reason.
  • 5. The new template's order on the edit page corresponds to the order of the information on the infobox, which can be beneficially to editors.
  • 6. For #2, the paragraph generated must have all elements filled in to generate a paragraph, otherwise it would look messy without one of the fields shown, thus I created a new template.

Removal of unwanted content on Userpages

  • Is it OK for an admin to remove an unacceptable/rude/vulgar piece of writing on a User's Userpage after they've ignored multiple warnings; or when it's so bad it has to be removed right away? I've had a User who had a somewhat rude comment on his Userpage (he removed it, of course). Would it have been OK if I removed the comment when he ignored warnings? Shroomish7 talk email

Replacment plan

I need your help with replacing Template:Episode. You will need to copy "Template:Episode" source code from episode pages of episodes 90-152 and fill Brief Summary by copying it from List of episodes to create TXT file like this. I will do the rest of the episodes. After finishing you part. Upload TXT file somewhere and post link to my Talk Page. Then I will unite my and yours TXT file and use "Find and Replace" function of "Microsoft Word" to convert templates. The Law of this Wiki

I've seen enough suffering on this wiki caused by GojiBob. This place is anarchy. We should have a certain forum that is like a court of law. Also, we need to make a law where nobody is above it and all bullies, admins or not admins, are banned and those who make what people like GojiBob think is, say, fanon should be given a notice and a forum for discerning whether he should be banned or not should be made where he can support his case. Squidward keeps dying!

We've got to tighten up the rules about what and what is not fanon. You agreed with me about that Squidward's suicide thing, and there was that whole Red Mist problem that I just couldn't stand. I think both of those are fanon, but it seems like others disagree, so I think we need to revise our policies to be able to come to a decision before too many more of these arise. Template:Episode

I have just finished replacing Template:Episode. I plan to do it earlier but I do not have time and acess to the computer on which I stored "Infobox episode.txt". And, I also have a question. Does Template:BTranscript needs to be replaced? I planed to put that template on all transcript pages.

And, can you use your bot to change "Mermaid Man" to "MermaidMan" and "Barnacle Boy" to "BarnacleBoy".

btw. I changed wholde Template:Episode (check it for more info) and I told people to use Template:Infobox episode from now on (MAIN-B/Help).

Bot

I would like to construct bot that will be flagged.

What will it do:

  1. Uncategorize all articles from Category:Season 1 Episodes and Category:Season 2 Episodes.
  2. Remove template {{CTranscript}} from all pages that contains it.
  3. Remove template {{MTranscript}} from all pages that contains it.
  4. Change parameters name on all pages that use template {{BTranscript}}.

Reasons:

  1. Someone creates those categories and start categorizing articles. We already have right category for it (Category:Season 1 episodes and Category:Season 2 episodes).
  2. I will put template {{L}} on all transcript pages and if some of them isn't complete I will put that template back.
  3. With new templates, we do not need it anymore.
  4. All main templates should have same parameter names:

We would have to get a community discussion. Since {{L}} will be used on each transcript article, and thus part of it is cleaned up. The CTranscript was there to show that the article needed to be formatted with in the formatting guidelines, like the use of parentheses, () to be replaced with brackets [] and also use of italics to indicate description or action, unless you could get a bot to fix these? If I understand you well, you do not agree with edit number 2. If that is true, then here is what I decide. I will ask one user on community wikia to construct bot that will do rest of the edits (1, 3 and 4). It will be peace of cake for him. I will do same thing much slower then him.
And, programming a bot that will fix transcript pages will take longer then actually doing that manually. Before I start doing that manually, I would like to know all transcript page rules.

I would like to rename page List of episodes to Main series and create another page, that will be named Spin-off series. Episodes, shorts, movies and specials will be posted in "Main series".
