Synopsis
Patrick is at the Krusty Krab when he is served a very messy and disgusting Krabby Patty. He complains to Mr. Krabs, but only because there is no cheese. Krabs tells Patrick to talk to their chef instead. Patrick looks through the order window and is surprised by what he sees: Cecil working at the grill. He asks Cecil if he can help him make Krabby Patties, and Cecil hires him. Krabs comes in and is confused, but realizing that Patrick does not know what a salary is, he is fine with letting him work. Krabs makes Patrick serve patties to a customer, but he always eats them on the way there.
Squidina runs in, saying that Patrick is supposed to be on his show. Krabs explains that Patrick works for him, so Squidina films the show there instead. Krabs protests, so Squidina gets the idea to trick him into staying in his office by claiming to record a movie about him, setting up a fake camera and making him talk into it. She locks him inside and is suddenly confronted by angry customers, who want her to take her order despite her saying that she does not work there. She realizes the job is not that different from working in television and gets the customers in a single-file line, then orders Krabby Patties from Cecil.
Patrick is working on slicing cheese, but he cuts himself on the sharp corners. At the mention of his "ouchie boo-boos," Bunny runs in and kisses it to make him feel better. Squidina hires Bunny as well. As Cecil marvels that the whole family is working there, GrandPat arrives as a customer for his date with Granny Tentacles. He orders nice food for himself and cheap food for her, angering her and making her steal his wallet and scooter away. GrandPat is unable to pay for his food, so Squidina makes him work as a dishwasher to pay off the debt.
Business is going smoothly until Squidina wonders if they can serve even more customers, so Patrick smashes the walls with a hammer, creating a drive thru. Cars smash into the restaurant and Squidina finds herself unable to keep up with the demand, so she hires the customers as employees. Outside the restaurant, she appears to be wanting to hire SpongeBob, but she actually hires Squidward instead. However, now the restaurant is full of workers and not customers. Patrick decides to summon some by taking out a briefcase that contains the time closet.
When the time closet is activated, various other Patricks, along with an ammonite and a caveman SpongeBob, rush out and cause mayhem around the restaurant. Krabs' fake camera collapses and he overhears, peeking out of his office to observe the chaos. Back in the kitchen, Cecil cooks a mine, causing the Krusty Krab to blow up. Krabs cries and pleas to Neptune to send someone who can fix the restaurant: all of a sudden, a pickle barrel falls out of the sky, then breaks open to reveal a woozy Squidward. Squidward falls onto the time closet's lever, leading it to suck everything back up. The Stars resist until Cecil looks at his watch and notices that it is 6 PM, meaning their shift is over. They all punch out and leave through the time closet, which implodes and restores the restaurant back to normal, leaving no traces behind.
Krabs and Squidward fall out of the sky. Thinking Squidward fixed the Krusty Krab, Krabs congratulates him and gives him a job. Happy with his new job, Squidward steps outside, breathes in the air, and comments that things are looking up for him. He turns around to see graffiti with his head and "loser" written on the door, sighing, "Typical."

Production notes
- Amanda Donahue
- "It's a typical note on the show to never let moments get too schmaultzy but i do love any chance for a cute family moment; Cecil booping Squidina's nose was my addition, and plussing up Bunny rocking Pat was very cute and also hard to figure out lol"[6]
Trivia
General
- A 5-Star Krusty Krab appears in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Squilliam Returns," with a different 5-Star Krusty Krab appearing in "Enemy In-Law."
- This episode's title is a reference to the term "five star restaurant," which indicates a restaurant that's had very good reviews.
- This episode's title also references that five members of the Star family are working at the Krusty Krab.
- This episode marks the first appearance of Primitive Sponge in The Patrick Star Show.
- This is the first episode that depicts him in the modern days.
- This is also the first episode where he appears without Patrick.
- The premiere for this episode had higher ratings on Nicktoons than it did on Nickelodeon, with the Nick premiere receiving 81,000 viewers,[7] and the Nicktoons premiere received 97,000 viewers.[8] The same would happen with its sister episode.
- This is the last episode of the franchise to receive a television viewership rating as for when it originally aired, as the ratings for premieres of each of the three series on Nickelodeon are no longer publiclly available.
Episode references
- The ending of this episode is implied to be happening right before "Help Wanted," since it ends with Squidward cleaning "loser" graffiti, like he is right before SpongeBob runs up to him.
- When Cecil is revealed to be the new fry cook, Squidward's jeweled Fabergé egg from "What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?" and his piggy bank from "Skill Crane" appear on the grill.
- GrandPat and Granny Tentacles' relationship established in "Backpay Payback" returns in this episode.
- The ammonite from "SB-129" is hired.
- Several Patricks and other characters from various episodes reappear in this episode:
- Template:Data:Links Patrick from Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years
- Bob Ross Patrick from "Terror at 20,000 Leagues"
- Patnocchio from the episode of the same name
- Patrick in stilettos from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie
- Patrick in his Ouchie's Hunts outfit from "Patrick's Alley"
- Patrick in his main series outfit, specifically his season 1 design, as evident by the eyebrows. This was an intentional reference by Eliza Herndon, because that is her favorite season of the main series.
- Patrick-Man from the episode of the same name
- Patrick in his gorilla suit from "I Had an Accident"
- Smaller Patrick from "The Lil' Patscals"
- Buff Patrick from "The Fry Cook Games"
- Jester Patrick from "Mid-Season Finale"
- Bug Patrick from "Too Many Patricks"
- Primitive SpongeBob from "SB-129"
- Squidasaurus Rex from The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
- Patrick repeatedly eating the customer's Krabby Patty before he can deliver it is very similar to him eating the patty after placing it on the table in "Big Pink Loser."
Cultural references
- One of the Patricks that emerges from the time closet is a female Viking Patrick riding a seahorse. This is a reference to Bugs Bunny riding a horse while dressed as a female Viking in the 1957 Merrie Melodies short What's Opera, Doc?.
- The Patrick painting a tree on the window is a reference to the late artist Bob Ross.
