The oldest living bubble was a bubble at Atlantis that Patrick accidentally pops in the episode "Atlantis SquarePantis." It also makes an appearance in the mobile app SpongeBob Adventures: In a Jam!.

Description

It looked like a regular bubble and was kept in a glass container. It was one of Atlantis' most prized possessions, being over 1 million years old.

Background

As Lord Royal Highness explained, this bubble was brought to Atlantis when the first Atlantean citizens colonized the place over 1 million years ago.

Role in episode

SpongeBob and Patrick want to see the oldest living bubble when they arrive at Atlantis. After a tour of the city, Lord Royal Highness shows them the bubble and leaves to prepare dinner. Patrick takes a picture of the bubble and it pops. When they explain to the king what happened, he reveals that the bubble they popped was not the actual bubble and was a replica put in place specifically for tourists.

When Lord Royal Highness shows SpongeBob and Patrick to the real bubble, Patrick takes a picture of it and it pops as a result of the flash, causing the king to be so enraged, that he releases his guards on them. The bubble is later replaced with Plankton.
