Character

The magma jellyfish is a species of jellyfish that appears exclusively in the Nintendo DS version of SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis.

Description

It is a magma-red jellyfish with five tentacles and many different shades of yellow, red, and orange. Its warm colors that look like fire are supposed to signify that it is dangerous to come in contact with.

Role in game

As the player revisits the volcano level within the Continent of Mu and approaches the large platform atop the mouth of the volcano, the three platforms leading to and from the passageway lower, and the first wave of magma jellyfish begin to appear, forcing the player to defeat them all, with the last wave having only three. These attack the player by charging into them, attempting to burn them and temporarily growing larger as they do. Upon defeating 15 magma jellyfishes, the platforms are raised back up, and they are rewarded with access to the fire flower, which is required to clean the grime off the ancient music sheet.
