Newsbot 2000 is a character who appears in the episode "Smartificial Intelligence” as the main antagonist.

Description

He is a bulky robot with one eye and mimics the appearance of Perch Perkins, wearing his hair and the same type of clothing.

Role in episode

He takes Perch Perkins' position as a news reporter, leading Perch to be fired from his job. He later throws out Perch for loitering in front of the BBTV building.

Later on, SpongeBob shows up at the BBTV building with Perch and begs for him to get his job back. This leads to Newsbot being challenged to news-off against Perch. Newsbot easily outreports Perch by reporting on several disasters occurring around Bikini Bottom. However, Perch later reveals that Newsbot was the one starting these disasters. Perch catches him as he is about to cut the brakes on a bus full of baby snails. Perch asks him "which came first, the news story or the reporter," which causes Newsbot to malfunction and explode.
