— Plankton, after Robo Plankton reveals himself, Battle for Bikini Bottom
|
Robo-Plankton is a robot clone of Sheldon J. Plankton. He is the main antagonist of the console versions of the original Battle for Bikini Bottom and Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated.
Description
Robo-Plankton is a much larger version of Plankton made entirely of metal, with red spheres on top of his antennae. He sits on a bench placed on a large platform that has rocket boosters and a wave emitter that looks like a satellite dish. He can manipulate the rocket boosters to make the platform fly by using two control sticks with his arms.
History
Robo-Plankton was first created by original Plankton due to the latter’s ego causing him to make a robotic clone of himself despite knowing it would be a bad idea. After duplicating multiple different robots in order to take over Bikini Bottom, Robo-Plankton apparently took control of them, turning the robots against OG Plankton and wreaking havoc across the town. Once SpongeBob and the others make it to the Chun Bucket Lab and confront OG Plankton, he explains everything and proceeds to “fix” the issue by pasting a sign saying “Obey” over the “Don’t Obey” sign next to the control lever. After questioning why it doesn’t work, OG Plankton and the others come face to face with Robo-Plankton, who reveals that he was controlling the bots the whole time. He then initiates the fight between SpongeBob and SpongeBot. After failing to kill SpongeBob, he swears revenge before the Duplicatotron 3000 malfunctions and produces multiple Robo-Planktons. The Robots all argue and vow to destroy each other. It isn’t revealed what happened to them after this, but Robo-Plankton’s appearance in BFBB: Rehydrated as a playable character in the multiplayer mode implies that at least one version of Robo-P survived. That might not be canon, however.
Role in games
Robo-Plankton appears in the Chum Bucket Lab as one of the two main robots opposing the player, the other being SpongeBot SteelPants. In the first stage of the player's battle against SpongeBot, they must periodically attack Robo-Plankton to continue the fight. In the second stage, inside of SpongeBot, the player must again periodically attack Robo-Plankton to advance the platforms or to get an opportunity to attack SpongeBot's brain.
