"Hawaiian Cocktail" was composed by Richard Myhill. In the show, it is a common track that mostly plays as a theme of sadness, disappointment, sorrow, or another negative emotion. The track features a steel guitar playing throughout.

Trivia
- This is the first production track to be used in the show that would be associated with "sad" scenes.
- However, the first instance of this track in the series, when SpongeBob is increasingly feeling dehydrated upon visiting Sandy's house for the first time in "Tea at the Treedome," does not occur when any character is sad. This episode was scored very early in the series' production, and many tracks were not yet associated with locations, characters, or narrative contexts. It also plays throughout except its ending.
- This is the most used non-sound effect production track in the series, with approximately 100 uses in the main series.
- This is also the second most used non-sound effect track in the series, behind "Grass Skirt Chase."
- "Clams" and "What Ever Happened to SpongeBob?" are the only two episodes to play this track in its entirety. Although, "Tea at the Treedome" was very close to playing the full track.
- "Clams" is also the only episode to play the full track without any kind of alteration.
- This track has slowed down in usage since season 8, and since season 11, the track "M'Wanna" is used instead in similar narrative contexts.
- This makes "Burst Your Bubble" the last episode to date to play this track in the main series.
- "Snail Mail" is the only season 9 episode to play this track.
- In the game SpongeBob's Next Big Adventure, the music is played whenever the player is in the Chum Bucket grounds, a possible reference to its usage in "New Leaf," when Mr. Krabs enters the Chum Bucket.
- Most of the episodes in season 5 use the ending notes for this soundtrack. The same goes with season 6 and some of season 7.
