— Octward, "Bizarro Bottom"
|
Octward is a doppelganger variant of Squidward Tentacles who appears in the episode "Bizarro Bottom."
Description
He is a light gray squid with a triangular head shape, curvy drooping nose, and wearing a brown shirt with buttons as well.
Personality
He is strangely calm and in a good mood at his workplace who enjoys the company of his coworker, SpongeTom, which is the complete opposite of his lookalike, Squidward.
Role in episode
Octward is standing at the cash register at the Krunchy Krab when SpongeTom arrives and gives him a high five, to which Octward responds by saying he likes him.
Later, when SpongeBob shows up for work, Octward says he thought it was his day off, thinking he is SpongeTom. SpongeBob mistakes him for Squidward, but Octward corrects him, stating his real name. When SpongeBob prepares an order, Octward tells him it should have been a taco instead of a Yummy Patty, since they are served at the Yum Bucket. As SpongeBob keeps calling him Squidward when he freaks out, Octward once again clarifies his name and adds that he is a squid. After SpongeBob runs off in a frenzy, Octward and Mr. Claws discuss his odd behavior, still both thinking that he is SpongeTom.
Trivia
- His name is a reference to "Octoward," a name that Stephen Hillenburg rejected for Squidward because he thought it sounded too weird.[1]
- Octward is really a squid, while Squidward is an octopus.
