Gameplay
SpongeBob's dream of making the world's largest Krabby Patties turns into a nightmare when Plankton and his robotic minions try to take over! Help SpongeBob make giant burgers by walking over the ingredients. Press the arrow keys to move SpongeBob around and up or down ladders. SpongeBob must go around several platforms and stomp Krabby Patty ingredients into trays at the bottom of the screen. Completing all of the Krabby Patty ingredients allows the player to progress to the next level.
Power-ups will appear that can help SpongeBob out. Mustard by pressing the spacebar can be used to stun plankton temporarily, after which they can be crushed, while they can also be killed by squashing them with patty ingredients. Touching a golden spatula will squish all plankton on screen. After a certain amount of time of any of the plankton's deaths, the squashed plankton will often respawn. Avoid Plankton and other unnamed plankton. If SpongeBob touches a plankton, the player loses a life. The player only has a certain amount of remaining lives. The game is over when the player loses all of the remaining lives.

- The image of SpongeBob on the prologue screen is taken from "Sleepy Time."
- The game contains unused graphics that can be seen when decompiled:
- A black button with a diagonal white stripe.
- Early screenshots of the game, including developer images.
- The levels were originally going to be called "rounds."

Cultural references
- The gameplay is the same as the 1982 arcade game BurgerTime.
- The Game Over music sounds very similar to the Game Over track of the 1989 NES video game Astyanax (known in Japan as The Lord of King).
