SpongeBob is extremely excited to see himself on TV and watches the commercial when it airs in the extremely cheap time slot of 3:28 AM. ==Plot==
Music
Mr. Krabs has Squidward directing a commercial for the Krusty Krab. However, When he finds out how much money Squidward is using (like putting a second Krusty Krab next to the original), he fires the crew and cast except for a clown, and he decides to direct it himself, using wigs on Pearl and Squidward/"Jenny". SpongeBob has a small role in the commercial, only appearing twice, each time a cameo appearance.

After the commercial airs, SpongeBob thinks he is famous after he is addressed by Old Man Jenkins (who actually saw a box of 'Bran Flakes'). Then he hears two fish talk about "Freddy Flounder" and how he should cut a solo record, but SpongeBob again thinks that they are talking about him.

*Krusty Krab Commercial Cast:
*The Bran Flakes cereal seen in this episode is a real cereal by Kellogg's.
**Pearl Krabs as Amy
*The lighting company that was going to supply the lighting of the Krusty Krab commercial is Lamp Ray Lighting. This is a reference to the fish lamprey.
**Squidward Tentacles as Jennifer
*The Leg Lamp from the 1983 Christmas movie, A Christmas Story appears as one of the props from the set.

**SpongeBob SquarePants as Himself (only made small cameos)
*One of the fish mentions "Flounderman," a parody of talk show host David Letterman.
*In this episode, SpongeBob is called a cereal box. SpongeBob was also called a cereal box in the episode Pre-Hibernation Week.
*The second Krusty Krab disappears for the rest of the episode.
*Mr. Krabs is shown with his pet worm, Mr. Doodles for only the second time in the series (the first time was in the episode "Sandy's Rocket").
*The second Krusty Krab is similar to the "Krusty Krab 2" from The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. It should be noted that this episode was released two years before the film.
*When Squidward was talking to Mr. Krabs there was a fish in the background that looked suspiciously like Dennis from "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie".
*The Krusty Krab commercial actually lasts eighty eight seconds, instead of sixty seconds like SpongeBob said.
*The Krusty Krab Commercial Plot: Amy tells her friend, Jennifer, that she has a lot of money and doesn't know what to spend it on. Mr. Krabs' laughter is heard and appears. He then poofs all of them to the Krusty Krab. They spend money on Krabby Patties and enjoy them.
*When SpongeBob is in Mr. Krabs' office, before Mr. Krabs says "Boy, those Krabby fumes must have gone into your head," his eyes fill with "tears" and bulge at the top.
*This is the second time the Matrix Mode was used.
*A fish mentions watching "Flounderman" which is a parody of David Letterman.
* While SpongeBob is going to work an elderly fish says that he saw SpongeBob on television the following day. Just as he says this a flashback is shown of the fish watching a television commercial for a cereal called Bran Flakes. Although, Bran Flakes is supposedly a made up cereal, there's is actually a cereal called Bran Flakes, which is made by Post Cereals.
*The background music playing during the commercial is the same as on the title card.
*In this episode, SpongeBob sang "Striped Sweater" in his normal voice. Usually, he would change his voice in uncommon situations, like singing. In "Welcome to the Chum Bucket", he also sings in his normal voice.
*The crowd, in unison, asked for "ONIONS! CHEESE!" but no cheese was being shown placed on the patties, but the customers didn't complain.
*A Krabby Patty was being shown flipped up in the air at the exact end of the episode, but froze in mid-air a split-second before fade-out.
*At the end of the episode, SpongeBob puts a load of Krabby Patties on the Grill. In the next shot, the amount lessens. Next, there is only five. Then there is six.
* Closed-captioning error: near the beginning of this episode, Mr. Krabs says to Squidward "What in Neptune's name is going on here?" However, the captions said "the toons' name" instead of "Neptune's name."
*The German Title: "Der Fernsehstar". In English, It Means "The TV Star"
* When SpongeBob is told he was seen on TV by an old man, his outline turns straight.
* The Krusty Krab commercial reveals the Krabby Patty Secret Formula.Wrong, the Krabby Patty formula is actually the ingredients used to make the burger itself, the rest is added.
*Look Hard: When Mr. Krabs mentioned the clown you can see another Mr. Krabs behind him.

SpongeBob is extremely excited to see himself on TV and watches the commercial when it airs in the extremely cheap time slot of 3:28 AM. Despite the horrible production values and quality of the commercial, and SpongeBob's very brief background role in it, he proclaims it to be the best 60 seconds of his life.

The next morning, while SpongeBob is walking to work, Old Man Walker sees him and tells him that he saw him on TV the previous night, albeit not in the same commercial. Eventually, he quits his job to become an entertainer (but he tells Mr. Krabs vaguely) and is confronted by the crowd of hungry customers, who he thinks want him to entertain them. Just as he thinks that his "career" is over, the patties drop on the grill, which pleases the customers.

  • This is the only time in an episode where there are two Krusty Krabs next to each other. However, the second Krusty Krab did not have the number 2 on it unlike the one in the first movie.
  • Incidental 41 is shown twice in the crowd of crew members as they leave.
  • The title card background is relatively similar to those of "Naughty Nautical Neighbors," "Karate Choppers," "Squidville," "Gary Takes a Bath," and "Jellyfish Hunter."
  • This is the second episode for two things:
    • The second appearance of Mr. Krabs' pet worm, Mr. Doodles. The first was "Sandy's Rocket."
      • His name is revealed in this episode.
    • The second episode in which SpongeBob is mistaken for a cereal box. The first was "Prehibernation Week."
  • This is the third episode in which Squidward eats a Krabby Patty. The first was "Your Shoe's Untied," and the second was "Just One Bite."
  • The picture seen in the background in the scene where Old Man Walker is watching the commercial is the same one seen in "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy" where Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy play checkers.
  • SpongeBob's song "Striped Sweater" has become popular on the internet.
  • Although Mr. Krabs tells the clown to stay for the commercial, he does not appear afterwards and does not appear in the commercial.
  • In this episode, SpongeBob is able make Krabby Patties for the customers as they cheer him on, but in "ChefBob," SpongeBob says he has stage fright and is afraid to cook for crowds.

Cultural references

  • The Bran Flakes cereal seen in this episode is a real cereal by Kellogg's.
  • The lighting company that was going to supply the lighting of the Krusty Krab commercial is Lamp Ray Lighting. This is a reference to the fish lamprey.
  • The Leg Lamp from the 1983 Christmas movie, A Christmas Story appears as one of the props from the set.
  • When SpongeBob is pretending to limbo with his mop, he vocalizes the 1958 song "Limbo Rock," originally performed by The Champs and famously covered by Chubby Checker.
  • One of the fish mentions "Flounderman," a parody of talk show host David Letterman.
