Trivia
General
- "Party Pooper Pants," "Ugh," and "The Sponge Who Could Fly" are all counted as double-length episodes. All of these episodes during their middle portions also have the commercial break warnings removed on this DVD due to there being no commercials on the DVD.
- The reason that the episode "Help Wanted" appears on the season 3 DVD box set despite it being a season 1 episode is because during the production of the season 1 DVD box set, they had copyright issues over the song "Livin' in the Sunlight, Lovin' in the Moonlight," which is featured in the episode, so they excluded it from the season 1 DVD and promised to include it in a future DVD release.[1]
- The box-set cover shows Squidward wearing the sombrero he wears in "The Camping Episode."
- One of the backings has Plankton escaping out of a pried hole, continuing on from the previous season 2 box set where he was breaking in.
- The Japanese cover has SpongeBob in a Hawaiian outfit playing on the ukulele.
- The following disc covers are based on the episodes that are:
- Disc 1: "Squilliam Returns"
- Disc 2: "Ugh"
- Disc 3: "Plankton's Army"
- The floor on the disc 1 cover is dark gray. In "Squilliam Returns," the episode this disc cover is based on, it is dark blue.
- The set up and special features screens use images from the following episodes:
- Disc 1 set up: "New Student Starfish"
- Disc 1 special features: "Krusty Krab Training Video" and "Born Again Krabs"
- Disc 2 set up: "Plankton's Army"
- Disc 2 special features: "The Algae's Always Greener" and "Wet Painters"
- Disc 3 set up: "Missing Identity"
- Disc 3 special features: "Krabby Land"
- Pop-up trivia facts: "Fear of a Krabby Patty"
- Unlike the previous two season box sets, every episode from season 3 had been released on DVD at least once before by the time this box set was released.
- This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants season DVD box set to have more than one character on the front cover.
- This is the first time the disc cases are thin rather than normal sized on a season DVD set.
- This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants season DVD to have multiple specials on one disc.
- This is the last SpongeBob DVD to have the Dutch audio option in the UK and Ireland.
- For some reason, on disc 3, the theme song is a separate chapter instead of it being paired with the first episode on the disc in one chapter.
- The European, Australian, and Japanese versions have no bonus features.
- The original Australian release has SpongeBob and the grill moved upwards due to the ratings icon, but accidentally results in showing the full art with the cutoff lines. This error was fixed in the re-release cover.
- Discounting the international versions of The Complete Fourth Season and The Complete Fifth Season (named Season 4 and Season 5 in those regions), which have 3 discs instead of 4, this is the last season box set to have 3 discs in the United States until The Complete Eleventh Season.
- The episodes that are new on this DVD in the Netherlands are "My Pretty Seahorse" and "Idiot Box."
Errors
- In the French dub, most of the episodes are low-pitched, most likely due to the audio being pitched down from PAL to NTSC.
- This also happens on the SeaSide Story, The Complete Tenth Season, and The Complete Eleventh Season DVDs.
- The pop-up trivia facts uses an image from "Fear of a Krabby Patty," which is a season 4 episode.
- The disc 1 episode description of "The Algae's Always Greener" suggests that the Transmogrifier switches lives for just one day, but that is never said in the episode.
- The disc 1 episode description of "Club SpongeBob" mistakenly claims that "SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward find themselves lost in the middle of nowhere" instead of where they actually end up: the Kelp Forest.
- The European version of this DVD is missing several scenes from "Party Pooper Pants," cutting from the shot of the Barg'N-Mart straight to the "PLEASE STAND BY" screen. The scenes with SpongeBob buying the party kit from the Barg'N-Mart, planning the party with Gary, and the Patchy segment are all absent. This does not happen on the European version of the Tales from the Deep DVD.
- In "Plankton's Army," when Plankton says, "United, the Plankton family could be a real pain in the fanny!" the closed captions say "belly" instead of "fanny."
- The same closed-caption mistake also occurs on the SpongeBob Goes Prehistoric and Absorbing Favorites DVDs.
