Siyam SpongeBob Saturdays

Siyam SpongeBob Saturdays (Nine SpongeBob Saturdays) was an event that happened on ABS-CBN on Saturdays from July 4 to October 3, 2015. The block aired new Tagalog-dubbed SpongeBob SquarePants season 9 episodes in the Philippines every Saturday morning at 9:00am.

History

On December 3, 2014, Viacom International Media Networks published a press release focusing on Nickelodeon animated series that had their licenses snatched by Asian TV networks a week prior to the Asia TV Forum. In the second paragraph of the press release, it was announced that ABS-CBN had picked up the rights to air season 8 and 9 episodes. However, it seemed as if the network had been rounding out reruns of season 8 since 2013, with one of the last episodes the season, "The Good Krabby Name," airing on the network as early as December 21 of that year.

On July 3, 2015, ABS-CBN released an official promo for the first new episode of the ninth season to air on the network: season premiere "Extreme Spots," with the episode set to air on the following day at 9:00am. ABS-CBN continued to keep up with this schedule of releasing promos for and airing episodes on the block weekly until October 2, 2015, prior to the premiere of "Evil Spatula." A week later on October 9, 2015, a promo advertising a rerun of "It Came From Goo Lagoon" revealed the show would be moved from 9:00am to 8:30am to make space for airing episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, effectively ending the block.

  • It was also the last premiere to air on the block.
• The promos for the paired rerun of "Little Yellow Book," and premiere of "Bumper to Bumper," alongside the ones for "Eek, an Urchin!" and "Evil Spatula" use the track Coconut Cream Pie as background music.
