Gameplay
It is a fighting game where you can play as the 6 main characters (one of them is inside a robot however). When you start the game, the player has an option of choosing versus, story, and practice mode. Versus mode is when you connect to the server and fight with online players (this only works on the Nick.com version). Story mode is when you can fight against all the other characters. And practice mode is when you can do a single fight against any character and choose what location you want to brawl in. Once you start the fight, it works like this: Use the arrow keys to move. Press the up key to jump. Press Z for special attack and X for super attack once the meter is full. Press the spacebar to attack and pick up items.
You and your opponent are trying to knock each other out! You or your opponent will lose a life if you're knocked out of the screen or if you fall too far. You have 3 floating platforms to jump on if necessary. There are also boxes that appear and give you various power-ups to use against your opponent. The game ends when you or opponent is knocked out and loses all 4 lives. There are also outfits you can choose for your character.

- Jellyfish - Bumps the other player if touched.
- Krabby Patty - Something to throw at your opponent.
- Purple Krabby Patty - Something to throw at your opponent.
- Pink Realistic Fish - Something to attack your opponent.
- Mustard - Shoots mustard at your opponent.
- Ketchup - Shoots Ketchup at your opponent.
- Pink Star - Throw at your opponent to make them move slower.
- Clarinet - Shoot music notes at your opponent.
- Bubble Wand - Blow Bubbles at your opponent to make them bump into.
- Golden Spatula - Something to attack your opponent.
- Golden Triton - Something to attack your opponent.
- Glove - Something to attack your opponent. It also makes your character fall slower.
- Weight lift - Something to attack your opponent.
- Bucket of Chum - Throw on the ground and slow down player.
Dialogue
The characters have various phrases and words that are either heard or written in speech bubbles during storymode. The Dialogue is reused from various SpongeBob episodes. Some have been slightly changed from the original dialogue.

- The game is a parody of the Super Smash Bros. series, and the Kirby Triple Deluxe subgame, "Kirby Fighters."
File:Bikini Bottom Brawlers Game Over.png In a video found here, while the Nick gamer was advertising this game before it was released, some early gameplay is seen which is not seen in the final version. Example: There was originally a "Game Over" screen. However, in the final version, it's changed to "You Lose."Scrapped "Game Over" screen? - Bubble Bass is briefly seen on the Bass Vegas sign.
- There's a very minor glitch in the game where you lose 2 lives at once instead usually losing 1 life.
- The Last Chance Coffee sign can be seen in the Bass Vegas location.
- This game was released on Lori Alan's 48th birthday, eight years after the Karate Island DVD was released, five years after Chum Caverns premiered, and three years after Accidents Will Happen premiered.
Errors
- With the exception of the life counter and the character select screen, Squidward doesn't have his eyebrows.
