The Best of Nicktoons 1998 is a Nickelodeon compilation VHS tape that was released in 1998 only to be given out to employees for Nickelodeon Animation Studio until February 9, 2013.^[1] It contains the first episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, along with select episodes of CatDog, Hey Arnold!, The Angry Beavers, and Oh Yeah! Cartoons.

Magazine misprinted as '97.^[2]

The cover of this VHS tape is edited from artwork used for Animation Magazine Volume 12, Issue 4, #66, April 1998,^[3] replacing the magazine version's Rugrats characters (as the VHS tape has no Rugrats episode): Tommy Pickles with SpongeBob SquarePants; Chuckie Finster with the Oh Yeah! Cartoons logo.
This is the first compilation VHS tape, and the first home video release of any kind, to feature any SpongeBob SquarePants episode.
The original 1997 version of "Help Wanted" is included on this VHS tape.
