Trivia
General
- The DVD was released one day after "Dunces and Dragons," the episode it is based on, premiered on Nickelodeon in the United States.
- This DVD contains the Nickelodeon fish logo in the opening like normal, but the VHS version has the fish logo replaced with the Nickelodeon crown logo instead.
- The back cover of this DVD contains pictures from the episode "Dunces and Dragons."
- Advertisements in this DVD case are advertisements for other Nickelodeon DVDs and VHS tapes (also known as "videos") for SpongeBob SquarePants: Where's Gary? (VHS and DVD), Absorbing Favorites (VHS and DVD), The Complete 3rd Season (DVD only), Avatar: The Last Airbender: Book 1: Water, Volume 1 (DVD only), and Nick Picks Volumes 1, 2, and 3 (DVD only). On the other side is an ad for SpongeBob books.
- This DVD includes previews for other Nickelodeon shows and movies. These include Avatar: The Last Airbender: Book 1: Water, Volume 1, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Yours, Mine & Ours, and older SpongeBob SquarePants DVDs.
- On the European versions, the previews are changed and the results may vary:
- English, French, German, and Australian versions have previews for SpongeBob DVDs, Over the Hedge, Creature from the Krusty Krab video game trailer, and Avatar: The Legend of Aang video game trailer.[2][3]
- Spanish version has previews for ICAA slide, SpongeBob DVDs, Over the Hedge, and Creature from the Krusty Krab video game trailer.
- Dutch version has the previews for Stichting Brein, Kijkwijzer, SpongeBob DVDs, Over the Hedge, and Creature from the Krusty Krab video game trailer, Avatar: The Legend of Aang video game trailer, and Avatar: The Legend of Aang DVDs
- Portuguese version just has previews for SpongeBob DVDs and Over the Hedge.
- On the European versions, the previews are changed and the results may vary:
- All of the episodes on this DVD except for "Patrick SmartPants" have their sisters on the DVD as well.
- This is the first SpongeBob DVD for two things:
- This is one of three non-season/non-movie SpongeBob DVDs released in Region 2 between 2003 to 2008 to have special features. The other two are Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies and Halloween.
- This is the last SpongeBob home video release to have a VHS counterpart.
- Differences with the VCD and international covers compared to the North American and Russian front covers are:
- The full "Nickelodeon" text instead of "Nick."
- SpongeBob only has one eye open.
- Instead of Planktonamor's tower, the background is the color green.
- SpongeBob has a shield.
- There is no bridge.
- Patrick has his regular clothes instead of his medieval clothes.
- Squidly is only to be seen in the spine.
- At some point in 2009 in Australia, this DVD and Where's Gary? were released together in a bundle called Double Feature Volume 2.
- On the Russian cover, the dragon jellyfish and Planktonamor's tower are nowhere to be seen, despite the fact that said cover is a faithful modification of the North American cover.
Errors
- On the back cover of this DVD, the running time is stated to be 86 minutes, but for some reason, the disc itself says it is 95 minutes.
- Even though "Enemy In-Law" is 67a and "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture" is 67b, this DVD has the opposite (67b and 67a respectively).
- The credits for "SquidBob TentaclePants" are shown, despite that episode not being included on this DVD.
