Trivia

General

  • The UK re-release, Australian re-release, and Russian release all show SpongeBob in a red swimsuit instead of a blue one.
    • Some of the disc artwork in those countries also use stock art of SpongeBob in a red swimsuit instead of a blue one.
  • The back cover of this DVD contains pictures from these episodes:
  • Advertisements in this DVD case are advertisements for other Nickelodeon DVDs and VHS tapes (also known as "videos") for SpongeBob SquarePants: The Seascape Capers (VHS and DVD), SpongeBob Goes Prehistoric (VHS and DVD), Tide and Seek (DVD only), Sea Stories (VHS and DVD), Lost at Sea (DVD only), The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: Sea of Trouble (VHS and DVD), The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: Jet Fusion (VHS and DVD), All Grown Up!: Growing Up Changes Everything (VHS and DVD), and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius: Confusion Fusion (DVD only).
  • This DVD includes previews for various shows and other Nickelodeon DVDs and VHS tapes. These include The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, All Grown Up!: Lucky 13 DVD and VHS tape, older SpongeBob DVDs and VHS tapes, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius DVDs and VHS tapes, and G.I. Joe: Valor vs. Venom.
  • On the main menu of the DVD, a short loop of the soundtrack "Saxaboogie" is played.
  • The yellow on SpongeBob is completely washed out on all episodes from seasons 2 and 3 on this DVD release.
  • The fish each change eye position on all three of the episode selection screens.
  • Each episode is an odd-numbered chapter on the DVD. The even number chapters were skipped for some unknown reason, so the last episode ("Clams") would be chapter 15, not 8.
  • This is the first SpongeBob DVD for three things:
    • The first DVD to have eight episodes instead of ten (or a double-length episode and eight standard-length episodes).
    • The first DVD to be named after the first episode on the DVD.
    • The first Finnish DVD to have the new rating system.
  • This is the second SpongeBob beach-themed DVD. The first one is Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies.
  • This is the last SpongeBob DVD for three things:
    • The last DVD to have the Paramount DVD logo opening with a menu option before the menu option was discarded for Nickelodeon DVDs on August 31, 2004, However, the Paramount DVD logo opening with a menu option variant continued to be used on other Paramount DVDs until Mission: Impossible (1966 TV series): The Complete 1st Season DVD released on December 5, 2006.
    • The last DVD to use the 1997-2004 DVD Video logo on the disc.
    • The last Finnish DVD to be rated for everyone. Starting Tide and Seek, every DVD is rated 7 (except for Spongicus).
  • On March 2, 2015 in Russian, this DVD set, Tales from the Deep, SpongeBob Goes Prehistoric, and Whale of a Birthday were released together in a bundle called the Favorite Episodes.
  • Despite the Danish back cover claiming that Norwegian audio is included, it’s not true.
