General
- On the cover, SpongeBob's superhero costume is remarkably similar to the one he wears in the LEGO set "Heroic Heroes of the Deep (3815)," which depicts him as a crime-fighter, while Patrick's costume is essentially his Patrick Man attire.
- The DVD includes a preview for older SpongeBob SquarePants DVDs, followed by a picture that also promotes older SpongeBob DVDs.
- "Patrick-Man!" is the only regular widescreen episode on this DVD.
- This DVD's audio is only in Dolby Stereo despite the episode "Patrick-Man!" being made in 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound.
- Unlike most SpongeBob DVDs, each episode on this disc is self-contained with the theme song and closing credits attached to the beginning and end of each episode. However, the Nickelodeon logo only appears before the first episode on the disc.

- Each full-screen episode on this DVD uses the original Nicktoons logo at the end rather than the modern Nickelodeon logo unlike the SpongeBob, You're Fired! DVD. However, "Mermaid Man vs. SpongeBob" uses the 2007 Nickelodeon logo. It is similar to the Nicktoons logo except it says Nickelodeon in the splat rather than Nicktoons.
- Each episode on this DVD is technically in widescreen, as each full-screen episode has black bars on each side embedded into the video. However, if the disc is played in 4:3 TVs/screens, the full-screen episodes will fill the entire screen. The only exception is "Patrick-Man!" which is in widescreen.
- This was one of the first DVDs to have a truly widescreen episode. The first was The Pilot a Mini-Movie and the Square Shorts. Before these, most SpongeBob DVDs were produced with only 4:3 screens in mind by having the widescreen episodes be letterboxed between two black bars on the top and bottom of the screen.
- "Mermaid Man Begins," "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy," "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy II," "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy III," "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy IV," "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V," "Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy VI: The Motion Picture," and Mermaid Man vs. SpongeBob" were previously featured on the Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy: Defenders of the Deep digital collection.
- Despite being Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy-themed, the episodes "Night Light,""Shuffleboarding," "Back to the Past," "The Bad Guy Club for Villains," and "Super Evil Aquatic Villain Team Up is Go!" are all absent on this DVD.
- Some copies of this DVD even say, "Includes the ENTIRE COLLECTION of MERMAIDMAN + BARNACLEBOY Adventures!" on the cover art, which is untrue.
- This was the last SpongeBob DVD released in Region 1 for two years until The Complete Ninth Season DVD was released on October 10, 2017.
- On March 1, 2022, this DVD, Extreme Kah-Rah-Tay, and Bikini Bottom Bash were released together in a bundle called SpongeBob SquarePants Triple Pack.
Errors
- The front of the DVD cover depicts Patrick Man wearing a blue cape, which he never wears in the actual episode.
- There is no episode list to be found anywhere on the DVD case (except for the UK release where the episode list is present on the inside). Instead, only a description of the entire DVD is given.
- The closing credits of each episode still show the voice cast for each sister episode even though they are not present on this disc.
